My fiance & her son had an interview date at the Manila embassy on 3, Feb. 2014. To try to get visa's to come here in the US before her son would age out on 13, Feb. 2014. During the interview the interviewing officer asked for additional NBI certificates. Even though they wer new certificates, as well as CENOMAR certificates for both of them. The officer told my fiance they would (the embassy) would pick them up & let them know the results. Both certifacates were ready for them on 7, Feb. 2014. With no word from the embassy as to what the findings were.

Checking the CEAC websight her son's K-2 visa has been refused, do to him aging out. OK so why wouldn't the embassy have that on the list of documents to bring to the interview? It would be nice so as to not screw other folks like us. We will just have to apply for imagration at the proper time for him.

It's been 2 plus weeks since the inteview & niether one of us has been contacted as to my fiance K-1 visa status. The not knowing whats going on SUCKS!!!.. Any thoughts on if I should contact the embassy requesting an update on her status or not? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Two or three weeks in administrative processing is not an unusually long time at the USEM. However, by all means, call or email the USEM to get an update.

Sorry to hear that her son aged out. It seems odd that the consular officer would request a CENOMAR for a17 year old. At 17, I don't think they can get married in the Philippines. Maybe there are different rules for Muslims...I don't know.

Don't email the embassy, they take forever to answer. call the embassy. I never had luck with their phone system and dialing extensions. I always hit zero and talked to an operator and then ask for visa status and let her transfer me. I called once or twice a week because my was stuck in limbo too due to other issues.
