For sure.

She's an exemplary kindergartner, and all the other stuff parents brag about. But occasionally thinks the entire world is eager to have a conversation with her about Curious George, or hear her renditions of all the songs from Frozen. So sometimes, after wrestling all day long with other people's kids at work, I'd rather let her just be her at home. Lazy mother of monster is lazy.

and as a childless person that goes out to dinner to enjoy I appreciate that

The other night I had a child just come sit at my table, as her mom watched. No biggie she was very sweet and I was in the mood to do the how old are you thing etc etc.

But i Wondered, who would let their child do that

But... there's a HUGE difference between a cute kid being gregarious or friendly and a kid who is just making a scene in a public place. Totally different. In your case, I say the child was just being friendly. In the other case, I blame the parent(s) for not attending to an obnoxious child.

Baby moose grow up to be adult moose. Ditto ducks, chickens, dogs, and cows. I can only warrant a guess that the same holds true for baby monsters... Especially if they are of an "unspecified age".

No, I don't think brandishing weapons at toddlers is a good method of discipline. Nor do I think it is legal.

Can't you use your words and ask the restaurant staff to keep this kids away from you? Or ask the restaurant staff to ask the noisy to people to behave or leave?
