(CNN) -- A 15-year-old girl in Little Rock, Arkansas, is dead, police say, because of a prank that went horribly and tragically wrong.

Adrian Broadway was shot in the head and died early Saturday morning.

She was with a group of teenagers who had gone to a house to do a "retaliation" prank on another teen who'd done a prank on them on Halloween, according to the Little Rock Police Department.

The teenagers told police they had thrown toilet paper, eggs and mayonnaise on a car parked there.

As they were leaving, a man came out of the house and opened fire.

Broadway was struck in the head and died.

Another teenager, the driver, suffered injuries to his right arm. He was transported to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police have identified the shooting suspect as 48-year-old Willie Noble. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of a terroristic act and five counts of aggravated assault, they said.

Bond was set at $1 million.

"I got the news from my mom who said that Adrian had got a gun wound to the head, and I just dropped the phone immediately and started crying," Broadway's friend, Laguyia Bland, told CNN affiliate KARK.

"They was trying to be teenagers," Bland said. "As you know teenagers make mistakes, and this was one of those mistakes."

I'm willing to bet that there are a few people on this forum who believe the shooter was simply protecting his property or some other nonsense.

Ya, I think that's a valid assumption/bet.

Regardless, I blame the parents of all the children involved, as they still be the legal custodians of these children.

Really? I blame the guy who shot and killed someone for a harmless prank.

ya, I blame the parents, it was the parents' responsibility to ensure/insure this type of activity not happen in the first place.

Still, a nice trek into the downward spiral of moral decay. Parents Helped! .

I've never egged a car but we did sneak up at night and write on the windows in shoe polish. I can't imagine being shot for doing something like that.

I've also had my car egged, keyed, and worse. I really wish I could have caught the people doing it. But even if I had; I would never have considered shooting them.

I believe in the right to protect yourself but this guy was way over the line. People need to think.

It was kids playing a harmless prank. That's what kids do. I think a majority have done something similar in their lives.

There is something wrong with a person who would open his door and open fire on a group of kids. You might feel like strangling them, but a rational person doesn't do that. I know personally it would take extreme circumstances to shoot someone outside of my home.

Property damage and vandalism is hardly harmless.

I'm not saying the dude was justified to open fire but you bleeding heart, "those poor kids" folks should consider, yet again, a kid was killed while committing a criminal act. Before you go feeling sorry for them, ask yourself why criminal acts are acceptable to you.

Serious question, do you think that egging and throwing toilet paper is a criminal act that deserves death?

You and I are usually in line, but not this time. I agree vandalism is not harmless fun but there is not physical threat involved. Opening the door and firing is way way outside the bounds. You call the kids parents and make the kids come over and clean it up and apologize or at worse call the police.

Harmless, eh? Nothing like ruining a $3,000 paint job to get your "harmless" prank on. Sounds like you never had to pay for egg damage on a car before.
