Hi my VJ friends - just got new from Craig - interview was today and we were APPROVED!!!!! Cannot thank you all enough - could NEVER have gotten through this process without all of the support and information provided here!

He is on his way home and I will have more details tonight after we Skype - I will fill you in on all the details. He did bring photos of his trip here at Christmas and he said those were a big hit!

Ok - so heres the scoop on the interview.

His appointment was at 9am he arrived at 8 and said the line was very long. Had to show interview letter and passport to enter. Was given his # he said started with an "I" and had to wait for it to be called. He said "N" #'s were being called a lot not many "I" #'s. He sat until 10:30am before they called him up. A gentleman asked to look at his birth certificate, divorce papers and police report - he kept these items and had Craig sit back down. He waited about another 45mins and was called up by a very pleasant woman.

She asked to see all his documents he had brought - he gave her the copies he brought and she handed back the originals the other gentleman took. She asked how we met, if we met in person - at this point he asked if she wanted to see photos from his trip here at Christmas - she did and he said she looked at every one and asked questions about where we went and who was in the photos. He said she smiled a lot and enjoyed looking at the pics. Then she handed him his x-rays on disk and smiled and said your Visa has been granted!

All went well - he said it really was just a lot of sitting around. So last night his plane tickets were booked and we are getting things in order for our big day!

Go to the menu bar and click "forums" tab. Scroll down many forums until you find

Adjustment of Status (Green Card) From Family Based Visas. That's the forum for AOS from K1.

Go to the menu bar and click "Guides" tab. In the right column is Permanent Residency, Work and Overseas Travel. Under that you will find guides for the greencard, tips for K1s, and how to get your Social Security number.

And this is my AOS list. I think it is the mobile version, but you could go to the bottom and click for desktop version and print it out for reference.

My list is a good checklist for seeing all the forms and documents needed and a way to organize your submission. It is 3 applications so some documents and passport photos are repeated. I don't think the VJ guide makes that clear enough. My list is a summary and does not discuss every question on each form.

Use the guides, sample forms, AOS forum, and MOST importantly--actually read the form instructions carefully while you look at a printed blank form so you see what the directions are talking about. It amazes me how many ask the same questions over and over when the answer is written in the form instruction. Get your forms from USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/forms They are links on that page in alphabetical-numerical order if you scroll down the list. Read each form/instruction intro page to see if USCIS gives you special instructions or tips on that specific form.
