Hello,

I was wondering if those of you going through Bombay know how long a K-3 takes and if a K-1 is a better option.

Some friends of mine are thinking of getting married soon.

Thanks.

I can't give you specifics on a the K3, but I can share my K1. I think I have heard overall the K1 generally does not take as long as the K3. My signature line goes into detail but here is our overall information:

I sent the application 5/19. It took longer than normal because of the IMBRA stuff and as I sent it to Nebraska it also was the time these applications were being transferred to California. Our NOA2 was on 8/16 and the Mumbai consulate received our file on 9/4. My fiancé was finally scheduled for an interview on 12/18.

So from beginning to end it took us 7 months. Yes, this is probably not an accurate calcualtion for post-IMBRA applications, but you still never know. We did not seem to be hung up anywhere except in the beginning which I expected once I found out about IMBRA.

Maybe someone else can help you with the K3. If not, I would recommend searching some timelines. I did that in the beginning and even during this process just so I could see what seemed to be happening with the current applications.

Good luck to your friends!

Thanks Lori. Actually, I'll tell them to sign in at this website, so they can do their own research.

It actually takes time!!

I got a k-1 too almost 3 years back, from Spain though. Good luck in your journey.
