Self-employed income issue

I haven't even started seriously looking for a lady yet, but I'm trying to get ahead of any potential issues.

Last year, my income was well over $200,000. But the previous 2 years, it was under the poverty level, simply because I chose not to work.

What can I do now to help avoid any potential issues down the road regarding my self-employed income?

Nothing, since you can probably qualify through assets alone, unless you spent most of that $200,000.

Is there a specific level of assets or do you have a rough idea what it would take to satisfy them?

If you study the I-864,

you get either/or on

last years taxable income amount or

last 3 years taxable income stuff

you not mention if spouse or fiance, or even which consulate,

so be aware that 'which consulate' is the main variable here for proof of income requirements.

Assuming you had no dependents, you'd need to show $58,987.50 in assets in order to sponsor a spouse with a household size of two (you plus the spouse).
