I see all these estimates of NVC time being 2 months. I *ASSUME* that's for the I-130 filings. Is that correct?

I read SOMEWHERE that when it comes to K1 visas, all the NVC does is assign them a number, and toss them in a DHL envelope for your target embassy. Is that also correct?

Thanks for any info!

USCIS-approved I-129F petitions are currently taking a lot longer to be shipped to the NVC than when Chinook and I were going the process. Recently, a friend of ours waited for a month for his USCIS-approved I-129F petition to be shipped to the NVC. For some people, it's taking even longer.

Once your petition reaches the NVC, it doesn't stay there very long unless the NVC tags it for administrative processing. Usually, they simply assign it a case number and ship it off to the appropriate Embassy.

Spousal petitions spend a lot longer at the NVC.

Thanks for the info Tahoma. I assume there must be more going on than simply "OK, this one is approved. Put it in an envelope, and send it to the NVC".

You're welcome.

The good news, as you know, is that the USCIS is approving I-129F petitions a lot faster than they were last year.

Mine was stuck there for almost 4 weeks whilst others seem to be there a few days. It's all just pot luck who's stays longer and who's doesn't I think as they don't do anything with K1s other than package them and send them on.
