The CFO seminar is the only part of the whole process I'm dreading

Even if my husband was here, I wouldn't want him to come with me, he might start a riot or get arrested for disorderly conduct or something. He's patient with me but has zero patience for lines and procedures.

@Jeff, you shouldve brought a bunch of gourmet tuyo bottles for your wife. I am soooo planning to dedicate a suitcase to local food (candies, gourmet tuyo, sauce mixes, Filipino-style spaghetti sauce, Lucky Me pancit canton and a gallon of Mama Sita's hot sauce lol)

Yes, a riot could easily happen if there are enough foreigners there. I warned my wife that something bad could become of this but I think they are used to angry people, there is even a big complaint box right in the guard/reception area. Waiting for something of value or something you want is not as bad as waiting for something that IMHO is not necessary. I saw one of the slides in the seminar room and they were explaining the AOS to the ladies inside, it is good to know you are provided for but some may take advantage of this as in one of the other threads posted recently.

My friend who has a Filipino wife here was telling me that a guy brought his fiance or wife over and he had a poor credit rating and did not have support money and that she had to work to support him...I find this a bit hard to believe in that Embassy and USCIS has plenty of information about the petitioner and their finances. No idea if the CFO class brings this situation up but that is wrong for a USC to bring somebody over for financial reasons, supposed to be the other way.

Not sure what gourmet tuyo bottles are?

Tuyo is dried fish but the bottled "gourmet" ones are like sardines. It's bottled with oil but it still tastes the same as dried fish. good.gif

I'm guessing that poor Filipina was given a visa because the petitioner either had a job when they applied or had joint sponsors. Either way that's kinda sneaky to just marry someone so you won't have to work.

Where we live there's not even an Asian store and just 1 Chinese restaurant. There are only about 10 us Asians there. Can't even find lumpia wrapper anywhere. Only decent grocery here is Walmart (ew) and their Asian food section is just one shelf. Depressing :(

Well right now I'm trying to focus on delivering a healthy baby and just gathering annoying documents (CENOMAR, birth certs, etc). I will stress out about CFO and medical later lol. My only worry is the waking up bright and early, being sleep deprived and leaving baby back home to fall in line at 4AM or 6AM. If the venues were in QC I wouldn't be as stressed but ugh... I'm not a big fan of the city of Manila.
