I am using the same argument yes.... use drugs and they take away you 2nd.....I am saying apply the same standard for someone that gets behind the wheel and drive. while stoned. .... Both can kill correct?

It has been said that pot does no harm but this article says otherwise. If I drink and own a gun I do not loose that 2nd. unless it is a felony DWI....According to the law if I smoke a joint this afternoon I can loose my 2nd forever. The same standard should be across the board. Loose the privilege to drive also. .. That is a dangerous weapon. also.

Well, as least you admit the slight hypocrisy.

You say the same standard set by one state should be across the board. For this, I would argue that the standard set by Colorado should be across the board but that's just me and my opinion. If one commits a felony through pot or drinking or whatever, they should lose their right to bear arms. I don't know why the wheel should be reinvented in this case as I have seen no comprehensive study on the matter. You presented one story which, while sad, does not a comprehensive study make.

Sort of like posting one off stories about a good guy with a gun killing a bad guy with a gun. Its cute, but biased and not based on empirical evidence.

I know you are afraid and uneducated about pot, but how many times do people have to tell you this? NOBODY who wants marijuana legalized thinks it should be okay to drive while stoned. Nobody.

This article does not say that marijuana is dangerous.

It says that driving under the influence is dangerous. Did you need this article to tell you that?

Alcohol is far more dangerous, poses far more health risks ... and I can buy it at a grocery store. Where's the outrage?

It's not the drug. In 90% of the accidents the driver was rear ended driving 40 on the interstate, while trying to manage a Big Gulp and mega size bag of Doritos's

How often has in the past one been tested for pot at an accident? The same amount as looking for a DWI. ?I believe testing for this drug has been limited. (from what a lawyer has said).so where is the comprehensive study. .. I have been assured in the past that using weed does no harm. from past postings on this board. ... What should the punishment be if one kills or causes harm. while high and driving?

I would assume, lost, that people would be tested for whatever they are suspected of being under the influence of. Oddly though, I did see that in some cases a warrant had to be obtained to obtain a blood test after a fatal accident. However, if one is suspected of a DUI, they will be given a urine/blood test back at the station that will include illegal drugs in its scope. So, I'm not sure why traffic incidents would not be the same. I can look more if this is something you are REALLY interested in, otherwise I don't care enough to look more.

But, for commercial license folks, here's some guidelines:

<p> But making it legal to smoke will encourage people to drive while high. .... Take an 8 hour drive in a northern winter. The passengers use it with the windows rolled up.. The driver would NOT be affected?... IF it would save the life of one child would it be worth it not to legalize this drug. (this is what we heard in dealing with the gun debate)

  • Obama: If we can 'save even one child'
  • Now under the law Illinois medical marijuana patients would have to be fingerprinted, undergo ... they would also give up their Second Amendment right to own a gun. ..
  • Perhaps we should also include if you use pot you loose the privilege to drive. They seem to think it is this dangerous ,,,Too dangerous to be around a firearm. Then why put someone behind the wheel.

To answer your question, no the driver would not be affected.

Laws tell us it isn't legal to drink then get behind tje wheel. Ditto drugs, even prescription. That's been established for years. Legal MJ users have a choice, just as ethanol users. If they choose to drive intoxicated, they should pay a STEEP penalty.

Not sure where you're going with the whole "owning guns" for MJ smokers thing. We don't restrict drinkers of EToH, why restrict cannabis users??
