I divorced my immigrant ex-wife some years ago and am not in contact with her. I don't know what she's been doing for the past few years, which means I do not know whether my obligations under my I-864 are still in effect. How can I find out?

Can I call USCIS to ask? Do I need to make an InfoPass appointment? Something else?

Thanks in advance.

OP...Well I have done a lot of research in this area and I have a answer...sort of

No you really cannot even if you had your ex's file number or a number you would need the receipt number for how she adjusted status, if she did, she might have decided life in the land of milk and honey that also has the streets paved with gold and where we all drive Bentleys and keep a spare BMW laying around, did not ever really happen :)

The way you would know if she is doing anything is if she applied for and received "means tested benefits" , which the federal government has never really tried to collect from anyone, they would not sue you (the federal government) they would just send you a bill on the bottom it would say "please pay this amount" make checks payable to the US Department of Treasury, and then you would know your ex spouse is a welfare case. There are many, many catch 22's when it comes to the I864, when she adjusted status you have to prove you will not be a welfare case (in Texas adult immigrants do not qualify for welfare until 5 years have passed, but a minor child is allowed to have benefits), it is weird, if she wanted to sue you in federal court, you would have been served by now and either way, federal judges are starting to take some of the teeth out of the I864 and having the immigrant sue in federal court ( for the folks that want a debate see the following president Blaine V Harell out of Hawaii (2012) Winters V Winters out of Florida April 2013..see the following Website www.justia.com ) SO to tell you the truth, she has left you alone, and this is a great thing, if your marriage was short, congrats you were a green card mule. PLEASE COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS.FORGET ABOUT HER AND MOVE ON:)

I also do Domestic Violence Advocate work and there are a lot of false claims out there and a lot work to be done..please remember that it is good you have moved on if not see a professional
