Actually there have been serious studies done about how persons of color have a higher arrest and conviction rate than white people (non-colored people? pale people?). The percent by race of persons in jail should roughly be the same as the percent of the population but it is not, people of color have a much higher percent in jail while the percent of white people in jail (or prison) is much lower. Thus a disproportionate number of persons of color are convicted of crimes.

For example, refusing to hire anyone with any type of conviction would eliminate a greater majority of persons of color from the job site than white people. Holder is probably trying to piggyback on this argument.

Now, my personal opinion. Once you do the time the entire incident should go away: except for sex offenders.

What you say is true and should be corrected but the main reason for this is because of the wars on drugs. White people tend to get lighter sentences than others. This is a very racist policy.

95.1 percent of all murder victims and 95.9 percent of all shooting victims in New York City are black or Hispanic. And 90.2 percent of those arrested for murder and 96.7 percent of those arrested for shooting someone are black and Hispanic.

Libs want you to believe that law enforcement and our criminal justice system favors white people, but as you point out, obviously blacks and hispanics happen to enjoy being in prison more than whites, while white criminals are more adept at escaping conviction. Stats don't lie.

You have taken a local statistic and are attempting to apply it nationwide. I am simply saying that once you do the time everything should go away. You shouldn't be punished for a crime for the remainder of your life. I am also for "ban the box". If you committed a crime 20 years ago why should you be denied a job because of it.
