How do you cope with the seperation and worry?

Hi there,

This is James Wife, Angie. We started all of this a long time ago it seems. I have been here in the States waiting for James to join me from the UK. We have been apart for nearly 4 months. I came here to set up domicile. It seems I just wait every day for him to get the letter for an interview date.

Apart from the pain of being apart all this time, I also worry that he will not get approved for some reason. I am working part time, and we have over $100,000 in my bank account over here. My husband is well educated and has no criminal record. Can you see any reason we would get denied? I am looking for some reassurance and some tips to get through the seperation. I am finding it very difficult right now. If only we had a date for the interview.

Angie

I dont think you will have any problems, just a case of playing the wating game. Just try and talk over the phone as much as possible and re-assure each other. Tell each other how much you miss each other and talk about things you want to do together.

I can't imagine you having a problem other than waiting. It will happen.

You're actually a lot further into the process than many others at the 4-month mark, so take heart. See each day as another day closer to your goal. Think about taking another part-time job if it will help distract you. They say "a watched kettle never boils," so stop watching and waiting! Just get on with your life as it is now and plan for the way you want it to be when you're together. 2007 will be your year!

Hi Angie,

I hope that you find out the interview date really soon!

I don't think you should worry about not getting an approval. If you both have no criminal records, are well-educated people and can prove your marriage is true, you'll be fine. I also worried about all that, and it only went away after we walked out with the visa in our hands!!

I was apart from my husband for 4 months and it was really painful and sad to be away from him. But now that we are together, it made it all worthwile. But honestly I don't have any tips on how you can cope with it because each person deals with it differently. It makes it harder when you don't know any dates...just hang in there. Try to keep yourself busy. Reassure him of your love. And everything will work out in the end! :luv:

Alix, how did you cope with being apart for so long?

How long did it take to get your interview letter?

Will they want me present at his interview in the UK?

We have been married for 5 1/2 years and we didn't spend alot of time apart during this time. I am a worrier, and I keep thinking something we did wrong, filled out something wrong, etc. We had the papers returned to us once becuse we answered a question wrong- and my husband recently moved out of our house when it sold, and filled out a change of address with the embassy. I worry that this can slow things down. I just wish they would hurry up and give us a date, even if it were several weeks from now.

I once lost my passport and it took them several months to issue me a replacement one- they lost my file, then had it in two pieces in two places, then they had no record of me entering the UK- I had been living and working there for several months. The whole thing was a fiasco that leaves me nervous!

thanks

Angie

You must have some way to prove that you were together in the UK other than your passport though, right A? Joint bills in both of your names, etc etc....you'll find something. Also, when I first started speaking to you, I didn't realize you had been married so long either. That's a huge point in your favor. As long as you have all of your paperwork together, you should be fine...and don't worry..if you had filled something out wrong, etc. they would let you know (via RFE) believe me! :) M.

Hi,

The passport thing was just me rambling on about a time when I had a bad experieince with the embassy once before. They essentially lost my passport and were making all sorts of things up to buy time to find it. They had it for 6 months and it was only supposed to take 8 weeks to obtain a replacement. dorks.

I wish my timeline looked like yours. :crying: I haven't seen my husband since June. I thought to myself after reading your post what is the difference between your country and mine...Europe I suppose, and the fact that my husband lives and works in Saudi Arabia. Well I certainly can empathize with you concerning the seperation and not knowing whether you will indeed be together when all is said and done. Cheer up, don't let the negative thoughts get you down, think positive. Hopefully, the interview date will come soon. If you start getting depressed just pull up my timeline and be thankful that you are further along in the process then I or many others are  All the best to you (F)
