Faster Processing Times

I believe it was two years ago??? when the IR-1/CR-1 visas were being processed like clock work one after another. Does anyone know what the reason was that they were processing the petitions so fast?

It wasnt so fast, it was within normal processing timelines. From I-130 to visa issued about 10-12 months. And then in 2012 DACA happened....and it went downhill from there, first affected were K1 filers and then CR1/IR1.

At least thats how i remember it..

What exactly is DACA?

Its so sad I have been part of these processes for about 2 and a half years and still dont know all the terms

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) is a memorandum authored by the Obama Administration on June 15, 2012.

Basically the executive decision Obama made to allow certain illegal residents that arrived in the US as children to have a chance at a path of legal residency in the US.

USCIS decided to give preference to DACA applicants over US citizens when it came to approving petitions. Spousal visas where put on the side and left to pile up. There are members on here that are still waiting for their I-130 to be approved.. 10 months and counting...

Ok yes I herb about that being passed. I didnt know the name and I didnt know it effected us in the process.
