Well still no news on our I-130 application. We filed on July 18th and it was transferred to CSC on January 6th but the good news is that I am going to visit my husband for our first wedding anniversary next month :) I'm so excited to see him after being away for a whole year. I will only be there for a week but it's better than nothing. So my question to everyone is, what should I do while I'm there so we can have more evidence at the NVC stage. So far I have only sent 2 letters from friends and our wedding certificate, I know not good, but I didn't know any better at the time. I have tons of pics from my last 2 trips and chat logs that I can print for the last 3 years, but I want to make sure there is no question we are married only for love. The only proof of co-mingling I have is my car insurance with both of our names on, should I send that as well?

Thanks in advance for all you wonderful help ;)

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I don't think they really expect much co-mingling when you don't live together. But is there anything on which you can list him as next of kin? Beneficiary on life insurance, that sort of thing? And of course, more photos from this trip!

By the way, do you have someone checking your mail while you're gone? At the rate they're going, you might get your I-130 approval while you're visiting!

Good luck!

Having a joint savings account in Nigeria would be of an added advantage. It helped, in my case. Nice pics of you guys with friends and family too. Also make sure you have good phone records and emails or chat records, and you are good to go.

He'll definitely be issued he's visa, when its time.

Wishing you a wonderful trip and best of luck, to both of you.

Thank you for your replies. My sister will be checking my mail and I will be checking the website everyday lol. Unfortunately I don't have life insurance but I was thinking about trying to add him as the beneficiary on my bank accounts if they will let me.

Everyone stop focusing so much on wills amd insurance and bank accounts you don't live together. This is Lagos you are trying to prove a bonafide relationship not a financial one.

No one got an approval because they had a bank account. The embassy knows how hard it is to open joint account if it was simple it would be required. We don't live with our spouses, so what is there to co-mingle really?

You will have your best evidence FACETIME. I don't know how many times it has to be said here, FACETINE. Time together getting to know one another like couples do. Many visits, long visits separates the wheat from the chafe. Simple as that.

Take pics have fun show it its that simple. Go places see Nigeria. Have fun. God bless.
