original documents will be required to send during NVC stage after AOS ...

First submit AOS affidavit support documents and then original documents

Certified means original copy provided by appropriate authority ...

For Example: Original or certified Police Certificate issue by Police station

For submission to NVC of the Affidavit of Support, the petitioner and joint sponsor (if any) must submit i864/i864a with their original signature/s. Photocopies of ITR and W2 is acceptable.

For the interview, its best to bring a copy of the AOS package. Also a copy of the 2013 ITR and W2 (if you submitted the 2012 tax stuff to NVC).

For the IV package, the beneficiary must submit:

- original NSO birth certificate

- original NSO marriage certificate

- original NBI Clearance (green for travel abroad)

- original Foreign Police Clearance (if you lived/worked outside of the Philippines for 12 months or more, you will need PC from that foreign country)

- photocopy of passport bio page

- 3pcs visa photos

Please refer to the IV instructions at the CEAC site for complete list.

For things like birth, marriage certificates, passports, US natrilazation certificate, & any translations of these documents you only need to send photocopys as you can then show them the originals at the interview. If you do send the originals of any of these you may very well never get them back.

No. For the USCIS stage you send photocopies only. The NVC require an original or certified copy. You also send a photocopy to ensure that you are given back the original at the interview.

A certified copy can only be obtained from the issuer of the original document. It is not a notarized copy.
