Some of the very ignorant, uneducated posts in this thread really grind my gears, such as "I'm all about gay rights, but you are either a man or a woman."

...No, that's not how it works. Gay rights, gender identity, and sexuality are all very different things. Gay rights isn't an umbrella term for everything else going on in the LGBT community.

Many people identify as gender neutral, gender fluid, or no gender at all and therefore prefer the gender neutral pronouns.

It's not about making it easier for everyone else to understand, it's about allowing people to feel more comfortable in their own skin. If it confuses you, or bothers you, then don't worry about it?

Like, someone could identify as a pineapple and it still wouldn't be anyone else's business except for theirs and NOBODY has the entitlement to dictate what gender THEY think you are, it only matters how they choose to identify, if they choose to at all. Period. Hopefully more of the world catches up to this notion.

Sure, but when you decide that I (let's pretend I'm not lazy and own a small business) need to have a restroom for pineapple, your cute little belief isn't so cute anymore.

I agree with you in most cases. Could care less who calls themselves what. However, if it gets to the point of building different facilities like bathrooms or dorms for different genders, they can probably get over it.

They could identify as anything they wanted and still use a female or male washroom, it still doesn't mean they have to tell you what they identify as or justify it. But thank you for taking the most figurative point of my statement so literally and not acknowledging the literal points.

The world isn't just black and white when it comes to gender, and it's not the fault of those who choose to identify as a man, a woman, both, sometimes a man, sometimes a woman, or neither and it's unfortunate that our society is moving at the speed of a snail when it comes to these issues.

People cannot help how they identify and I really think everyone needs a more thorough education on this issue...

They are many gender neutral bathrooms and facilities located all over the US, and there is a website used to track them for people if they require.

"They should probably get over it."

So if you felt extremely uncomfortable going into somewhere, which brought with itself, constant anxiety issues and self-defiance, JUST to use the bathroom, you would think that's okay for people to feel like that on a daily basis?

People don't have to get over anything. The world needs to catch up. If you have the right and the ability to use the bathroom designated for the gender you identify as, that's great, but that's not how simple and easy it is for everyone else. Gender neutral, gender fluid, trans* etc. Trying to pick a bathroom to use is a daily struggle and it shouldn't be like that.

They do, actually. This is the real world not the Disney Princess fantasy you clearly have yet to wake up from. The world isn't going to bend over backwards for you and if you have anxiety problems I suggest yoga, therapy and medication.

Lol I'm so sorry you're uneducated on this matter and that I'm trying to explain that all people deserve adequate ways to preform simple tasks. Made up BS? Have you ever read a damn thing into gender identity? It's not "made up" just because YOU don't understand it.

Not my fault you're ignorant, sorry.

If making a gender neutral bathrooms or a change on facebook would be considered "bending over backwards" then that's very, very sad.

I'm uncomfortable every day I get on the interstate and I get over it.

We should just get rid of all the BS taboos of separate sex bathrooms anyway. Who cares if there's a chick in the stall over dropping little chick poops. Then everyone could use the same bathroom and we wouldn't have to build 40.

People have to get over stuff all the time. I have to get over general stupidity every day I have to listen to people rant about the one stupid thing that's important to them in their stupid life.

I don't actually care about the Facebook thing, to be clear.

Me neither. 0 effect on me
