I'm telling you it is offensive and it's context usage is important. White people have used that term towards anyone Black who got an education, voted, rose in the ranks of life, whatever.

Jinx, for what it's worth, there were absolutely no racial connotations in this thread. The word uppity was not used in that context. There are a few folks here who have a well known track record for racial bias, Operator is not one of them.

I hear you, but Jinx doesn't know who's who on this forum. I've seen Janelle go into full meltdown mode because she thought AJ was being racist, when he was only being AJ. I've almost went off on Postmaster because he said dialectic, when I thought it was dialect.

Point is, what's thought as racist for us might not be for anyone else. Instead of ganging up on him, I'm trying to defuse this situation before someone gets 10 shots into their computer monitor.

Maybe before the threats and accusations of "RACIST!" come out, and before the meltdowns begin, people should step back and realize not everyone is out to get them. That would help.

No. I do not see where he's coming from. Showing me that it has a history is fine, I get it, but to immediately threaten someone and call them a racist for using it in a completely innocent way (the way nearly EVERYONE uses it since it's so common) is offensive.
