I've never heard that before. I seriously doubt that was the intention here.

Nor had I and It wasn't the intention at all but rather to make light of someone who is to good reference an article in the National Enquirer.

I doubt it as well. I posted the link for information purposes. I knew it because I've heard it used before in that instance.

Thanks for the info Marvin.

Yeah, I took it as a fun poke at Jinx for turning his nose at your source.

You're welcome, I know Operator wasn't trying to be racist since we'd have threads before when there was no such interaction.

Marvin: calling out racists since 1973. The doctor who slapped by azz got hit with a lawsuit. I lost. Racist.

I've been called a lot of things but honestly racist or bigot has never been hung on me. Then to be followed up by a threat made it all the more pleasant.

Jinx is new to this forum, like a few weeks if that. I can see why he overreacted.

He may me new, but such naïveté is unhelpful. A thicker skin is the first thing you need here, or everything perceived as an offence will instantly become a flame war. :(

From the brief interactions I've had with him, he is fully capable of putting together cogent arguments, so he's going to need that thick skin sooner, rather than later.

You shouldn't have thick skin when it comes to racism.

If you throw some sarcasm at me with some rapier wit, I can brush it off and I consider myself to be rather sensitive. If you're a just being a jerk, it's no issue either since I won't sink to your level. But that? To attack someone's very core being, something that can't be changed, is just wrong.

Oh FFS Marvin.

Don't go all British on me, it has been used before with racial implications. In this case it wasn't, but since folks said they didn't know how it could be racist, I provided a link to support my claim.

Awful White of you to call me uppity.

Internet courage I tell you, giving bigots courage since 99

Awful black of you to call him white.

I'd wager that some on here would call my statement racist. If so, then your first line is equally as racist. And you, sir, are the first person to bring "race" into this thread.

Same here. Uppity is NOT a term of color in my lifetime. I have been called uppity at times, and have called others that. Had nothing to do with race nor color. It was a reference to attitude.

Perhaps you see it as a term used towards blacks because you are... well, black. So I can see why you might misconstrue it that way.

Yeah yeah I saw it. I've used uppity many many times in the exact way the operator did. Uppity N***** may have been used but I would say uppity was applied to many other words during its life. Its not fair to assume an adjective is inherently racist when it has clearly been used along with other words and situations many times in its existence. This misunderstanding is a perfect example of why it should not work that way.

The term "uppity n*****" has been used towards Blacks since slavery. You can claim ignorance if you want to but I am less forgiving. It was a bullchit remark and offensive to me.

But he didn't say that. He said uppity. You're wrong on this one.

I'm pretty sure it was used because you mention Reuters, rather than AP. ;)

It's been a word used to describe black people who don't "know" their place for decades. It might not have been your intention to use it as such.

I have never in my life heard this.

My god, EVERYTHING is racist to someone. Ridiculous.
