K1 Application Pending Further Action - Tax Return

At our interview in Guangzhou today, my fiancee was told that we need to also supply my tax return from 2012. I thought it would be ok that I only supplied the tax return from our co sponsor. We did submit both affidavits. (Why submit my tax return when I already told them I make too little money myself?)

So our only instructions were for us to visit ustraveldocs.com for further instructions listed under Application Pending Further Action 221(g).

My question is...why didn't the embassy keep her passport? We will submit the documents tomorrow at CITIC Bank as requested from the website but after they receive, how will the consulate issue the visa without her passport? Will they have her send it in at a later date? Is is better to try to go to the consulate again tomorrow instead of CITIC Bank?

I wasn't sure if this should be posted here or China regional.

Thank you so much for any help!

  • 2 weeks later...

We went ahead and included the passport. Now we wait. Does anyone have any experience with having to submit documents after the interview? I tell my fiancee everything will be ok since they could have just denied her that day.

Please, any input will be so appreciated. I am just hoping they only needed my tax return for protocol. Like I said, we have my mother as a cosponsor already.

Thanks!

Visa ISSUED!

So, we are so happy to report that even after were asked to submit my tax return on Feb 13th, we have now been issued the visa :) I am so glad we included the passport at CITIC bank!

The fact that her passport was returned to my fiancee at the interview was worrisome but in this case it still worked out AND it only took a couple weeks.

Good luck everyone. I just wanted to share this for anyone in the future who goes through something similar even though no one responded.
