We had our interview on May 20. It was easy and went very well. The interviewer said that she has everything that she needs from us (she didn't even want to look at our wedding photos), but she is just missing the medical paperwork that hadn't been transferred from customs to her office (it was collected when my husband entered the country). She said the transfer usually takes a week. It's been two weeks now and our status has not changed. I called the USCIS number and they said they do not have any information regarding what is happening in the local offices and that I need to make an appointment with the local office in order to ask any questions about the status of our case.

Any advice?

My advice is that you need to get an Infopass appointment asap. That's the only way you'll be able to get more info on what's happening with your file at the local office where you had your interview. Good luck!

Still waiting after my interview as well which was May 19th. My I-130 was finally approved last week but today I got an e-mail that they shipped the I-130 to NVC...the National Visa Center...as if they think I am still in Canada waiting to get an interview at the embassy! USCIS seriously has their wires crossed in my case.

So I have an Infopass appointment at Federal Plaza this Wednesday to see how this will get resolved. At least I have the formal notice of approval of the I-130 to show them.

I hope that will be enough to convince them to just approve my I-485 without any more waiting :(

Ok. Please, let us know how this goes tomorrow.

I had my interview today. My appointment was at 1 pm. We went at 12:30 pm and were called in at 12:45 pm (15 minutes before schedule). The immigration officer first called my wife and told me to wait outside (a common practice in Boston). He then called me in and asked me things like full name, date of birth, address, etc. Then asked me how and when I met my wife, when did we meet for the first time, when did I propose, etc. Also asked me questions about my wife's family. There were some random questions in between about how much our rent was, what our building looked like, etc. He then asked me what I did last Saturday. I kinda got nervous on that one because I did not remember all the details. Later on my wife told me that she gave a slightly different answer. But the good thing is that I got approved on the spot! He said I'd get my green card within 30 days and explained the ROC process.

My advice to other people is to read the interview experiences of as many people as they can and go over all the questions with their partner. Sometimes they ask for details that people forget even if their marriage is real.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their insight and experiences and good luck to all!

I contacted the congresswoman for help and someone in her office got back to me today. He said it's approved like they said after the interview and I should expect the GC in the mail in a few weeks. Still waiting...

I got 4 letters in the mail today: a letter from the congresswoman saying she contacted USCIS on my behalf, a letter I should have gotten after the interview (or on the day of the interview) saying that my case was being held for further review, approvals for I-130 and I-485. The I-485 approval is also the "welcome to USA" letter. I feel a lot better. Now, I'll just wait for the card itsef. Thank God. I wish those of you waiting, the best. FYI, I still don't have any updates on the website, text message or email. I think the congresswoman helped. Consider doing that.

Ok. Please, let us know how this goes tomorrow.

Sorry for the late update! In short, the IO who interviewed me was not at work the day we went for my Infopass :( But the receptionist on his floor was really nice. She took a copy of the approved I-130 and had me write out a detailed letter on a Case Status review form. She promised to submit both items to the IO the next day. I intend to book another Infopass for sometime in July and request to specifically speak with a supervisor about this. This is ridiculous. They now have an approved I-130...they really don't need the file anymore!

Tomorrow I will have my husband call USCIS and the State Department to get the I-130 file transferred to the NYC field where it should have gone in the first place! I also will contact Senator Gillibrand's office as I had already sent in our complaint to them the week that I had my interview at their request. They said it would take 4-8 weeks before they could act on my file. Well I need to light a fire under them at this point and see if they can do something about this now.
