She's right Gary, that's what we've been saying all along! Marriage doesn't equal commitment!

Whether or not marriage equals committment or not are persons own view of things. However it is the agreed universal test of committment.

When you marry- You can get health benefits

Inheritance

Immigration Benefits

Pension benefits if they exist

Now for people who do not equate marriage = committment, what is your test of committment. How should the committment be tested to give you or your SO the above benefits.

It is not agreed as a test, it is agreed because marriage is a civil contract, and unless you are bound to another in this way, you cannot get legal or medical benefits.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

I asked a question early on that only person answered, and that is, among those of you who are complaining about having to marry for immigration, do you plan to divorce once your marriage is no longer needed for immigration purposes?

Also, I'm curious as to whether you have informed your SO, friends and family that you find this marriage thing a pain and am only doing it as a sacrifice so you and your beloved can be together.

Is anyone planning to put that in their vows?

No, but your comments remind me of my dear husband's views, views that we share.

vows=religious wedding ceremony and/or by choice of the couple.

I married in a civil ceremony and only agreed that I was going into marriage willingly. It took about 2 minutes from start to finish, including signing the paper.

I notice that lately you have become an advocate of all things Sarah, Rebecca, but I didn't follow her here to engage in character assasination and false accusations. She followed me, so if she doesn't care, she's doing a dayum bad job of showing it.

No, but mine is a somewhat unusual case. My former SO was married before she met me, and she never wanted to get married again. I loved her, so I went along with that. She died after we were together 20 years. How's that for commitment without marriage?

Well, yeah, that's pretty freakin' awesome I think. Seriously.

And in and of itself doesn't that prove by example that one doesn't have to be married to be committed?
