what would be a good time frame to plan on going through JFK as her POE . I can get between 2-5 hours time frame to make connecting flight. She can land about 2:30 from China. connecting flights are 4,5,7,8.00. If I fly her in on the day before easter would it be very busy. I have flown on new years day before and hardly anyone was on board a domestic flight. I am open as to what day to make flight.Weekend would be best.

I think if it were me I would go for the 7:00 flight. There is no way she could do the 4:00 and the 5:00 would be 50-50 if she did not have to change terminals. Sometimes they can fly right through customs and immigration, other times it can be really slow.

I would err on the side of caution and go with one of the later flights as well. I got stuck in customs lines behind three planes' full of people coming home from March Break vacations and barely made it through to my flight on time almost 1.5 hours later!

I have flown out of JFK numerous times and agree with the earlier post. I would err on the side of caution. I would go with 4-5 hours between flights. If the arrival hall is busy, going thru immigrations and customs can take a long time. Also she most likely will have to change terminals, which means taking the sky train...not hard to do but many things can be a little confusing when coming to a foreign land. I suggest if possible, meeting at JFK and continuing on together. That's what I would do. Good luck and happy new year!

Very solid advice....at least 5 hrs between planes would be necessary. The idea of meeting her at the POE is excellent.

Changing terminals can be VERY confusing even to a seasoned traveller.
