Well, I think there is some kind if misunderstanding..

You cannot apply for a passport until you become a US citizen. Once you take the oath to become a citizen, then you can fill the US passport application, with 2 passport size pictures and the correct fees to either a post office which has a passport acceptance center.

A lot of post offices nowadays require you have an appointment to submit your passport application.

Secondly, when the post office told you that you need a US birth certificate that's only a requirement for US born applicants.

Also, they may have mentioned a drivers license since that is used as a secondary identification. But if you do not have a US drivers license, you can use your foreign passport or a state issued id as an identification.

On your second post about SSA and drivers license --I didn't understand what you mean so i can't explain.

Here is how you get a license: There are different requirements if you are foreign born. http://www.dmv.org/id-idaho/id-cards.php#What-Should-I-Bring

I don't really understand why you say your name is illegal. What do you mean by that?

If the documents described above cannot be obtained, the examiner will require a combination of documents from the primary and secondary document lists that provide proof of your legal name, date of birth, and identity (including a picture.)

Primary documents verify your age and identity, and must contain your full legal name and date of birth. These documents must be verifiable as authentic (the examiner must be able to contact the issuing agency to determine authenticity). The following are examples of primary documents:

  1. Out of state driver’s license or ID card (with a photo) not expired for five years or more.
  2. Idaho driver’s license or ID card not expired for five years or more.
  3. Original naturalization/citizenship document.
  4. Certified original birth certificate or certified abstract.
  5. Valid Immigration and Naturalization card from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  6. U.S. military photo identification card.
  7. U.S. passport or passport card
  8. Valid Foreign passport with a valid U.S. VISA.
  9. Idaho concealed weapons permit not expired for one year or more.
  10. Veteran’s Universal Access Card with photo.
  11. Native American ID card with photo.

Those are only for primary and secondary documents. You still need US Birth Certificate. I been over this many times with the police. I do not have US birth certificate. My name is illegal, becasue it has hyphens! :\

I'm sorry but hyphens don't make your name illegal. Plenty of women hyphenate there last names. And if Prince can change his name to a symbol then anything goes.

To apply for passport it would cost you around $200, less if you don't mind waiting longer for it. And by all means to Naturalize is NOT free... I guess you forgot about the $680 fee when you file N-400... so passport will cost you less...

$1,500 in transportation? Are you gonna fly there or what? My round ticket to Poland costs about that much...

I know EXACTLY what your original post said.... that is why I told you about the courthouse passport services so you can check your options...

Whoever told you that you cannot apply for driving license when have a Green Card (after you pass written test and road test of course) told you a big, fat LIE.

And how can a name be illegal??? What kind of name is that? How come you think it is illegal if you were able to get a Green Card???? Some things just don't make any sense....

Naturalization IS free. It only has a fee if you are rich. I forgot about nothing. You did.

I will take the bus. I wish I could go to POland to be an American than. Unfortunately, the bus in America is expenisve.

It is not a lie. It is the LAW! A birth certificate IS required to get a State ID. I Read it.

A name can be illegal if it is not according to the law. That means illegal. Maybe you do not know this, but the USA has many laws regulating personal names. I do not think my name is illegal, the law does. Green cards are issued by the DHS and the CIS. Who ever told you that the ITD issued them? Did you never even look at your green card and see "DHS" on it? lol

Hyphenated given names are illegal. Not last names. And you cannot just hyphenate a last name. It needs to be due to marriage. Prince never changed his name to a symbol, and symbols are illegal Federally. Also, what part of Idaho did Prince live in? I thought he was California?

also it isn't remotely true that you need birth certificate to get proof of state residency, my friend just moved to Idaho and she is not US born and she got one simply by taking proof of residency with her

especially that you can drive 10,000 miles from Idaho and not find yourself on the wrong continent and secondly that it is illegal to have a foreign name in America....

You do not know that you can go 10,000 miles from Idaho? What user said the thing about foreign names being illegal in America?

not true either, you can do whatever you want with your name, and it certainly isn't state specific

OP, do you have a family member or a good friend who can help you look into the requirements for getting an ID and help you talk to the police/postal workers/whoever else? I think that might work better for you.

you practically did.

also go 10,000 miles from Idaho in any direction and you find yourself either in an ocean or on the wrong continent

nothing you are saying is logical or has any truth to it at the moment
