Can someone out there please tell me where the logic is with our great government (USCIS). Biometrics will need to be done for my wife for the I-485. Of course paid a $85 fee for this. They will send us to the nearest office to do this, which is 2 hours travel time there, 2 hours travel time back to my home for a 10 minute fingerprinting procedure.

I have 3 concealed weapons permits and all three required electronic fingerprinting at my local sheriff's office or Police Department. Why does our government make us pay these fees and then send us a total of 4 hours travel time for a 15 minute procedure, when my Local sheriff's Department of Police Department can do the same thing, and their fee is $25.

I believe sometimes the government does this just to get the fees and to pay the gas tax when I fill up my car to get their. Their is no logical common sense in doing these things over and over. the I-129F, the I-485, the I-795 are mostly repeats from other processes, such as photos, evidence of co habitation, proof of marriage, documents, etc. Each procedure they are asking us to repeat the same things over and over for each step. NO COMMON SENSE IN THIS

Am I alone in this, or is there people out there with the same frustration??? Thank you

I understand very little about the logic around this entire process.

But that is what we sign on for when we enter the process. They tell us where to go, how much to pay, when to go, how long to wait, etc. We smile and say "it's worth it"

good luck

I understand, they do keep repeating same thing when we enter the security check at airport. With long hours fights total of 32 hours, tired, exhausted, we still have to removed the jacket, shoes, tablet or laptop from backpack, even asked my fiance and I to get my cats out from their bags. They are just pets. When we deal with the government bureaucracy, sometimes we can't find common sense at all. But why? I am going to say that it is probably because too many crazy things happen in US and that's how government are trying to protect the country.

Local and state law enforcement agencies can't share information with the Feds, and that is why you need to go through the entire process again. The USCIS has no jurisdiction over your sheriff's office and therefore can't ask them for your fingerprints. It sucks but there is a reason for it...

** and Rich, I am not sure if your answer still satisfies the question of the Biometrics. The FBI has jurisdiction over all Local Law Enforcements, and also, it is a fact, if you are arrested in this country and you are booked into jail your fingerprints are taken and they are put into a national data base for all Law Enforcment agencies, including Homeland Security to trace to a crime of some kind. so once fingerprinted, you are marked nation wide for life, so the numerous fingerprintings in the Visa process, I still believe is for the fees for the Government and to keep the Government employees in a job.

Thanks for responding to my frustration
