Received our noa2 in the mail today stating our visa application was marked to department of state for processing. Does this differ from nvc? Are the processing times the same?

well the e-mail received says department of state. My NOA2 says "the above petition has been approved, and forwarded to the listed consulate". I'm slightly confused since they dont list a consulate anywhere is the letter. What does this mean? lol

I received an email today stating that my application was sent to the department of state. When I read the NOA2 in the mail it stated that it was sent to the above listed consulate. Now I am rather conflicted by what this means. How can it go straight to the consulate? I was under the assumption that it had to go to NVC but that wasn't even listed in my letter. Someone please help me understand...

after NOA2, your case is forwarded by your service center to the NVC and maybe after 2 weeks or less u can call NVC for your case number and your case will be forwarded by NVC to U.S embassy/consulate in your fiance(e)'s country.

The message has been the same forever , it always says it goes to the consulate but DOS is the entity that creates the diplomatic pouch not USCIS. It passes riefly through NVC to get placed into a pouch ( and get a country specific ID )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I just got off the phone with USCIS and they told me that my application was sent to her consulate. That fiance visas don't always go to NVC because they have a limited time to process these visas. Whereas other visas have to go through NVC first. She also said that I am to give them one month to process and that my fiance will receive her case number by mail through them. I asked her about the department of state that my email notified me of, she then stated that it is the state department within the consulate in her country. She also told me that at this point I need to mail all of our packet to her. Which all of it is together except for the affidavit of support which I better get finished and in the mail asap. Things are moving so fast now and I'm feeling the crunch. My fiance is off getting her passport renewed today and her criminal background. eeeeek lol
