When I contacted TSV last week, same question, it just meant that they assigned a number to your fiance/bride. They won't disclose the number, at least that is what I was told. Long and short: your application is being worked on.

It does not always mean that it is being worked on, or that approval is around the corner. The number was changed on my case in May and we are still waiting for noa2. It just means they assigned the case a number.

The A number would be for the benificiary, not the petitioner. You are a US citizen, but the person you are petitioning for is not, that is why they give the case an Alien Registration Number.

Who knows? Maybe you are one of the lucky ones that means you are about to get noa2? Good luck! Fingers crossed for you!

Yes, it means they assigned a number, normally a good sign, but you may still have a long wait.

You're right, it doesn't always mean that an approval is around the corner. But I've noticed that being assigned an alien registration number seems to be the last thing that happens on a stand alone I-130 before approval. So if the petitioner in question did not file the additional I-129f to chase after a K3, then it usually means approval.

For those of us who filed both petitions, the assignation of an alien registration number usually applies first to the I-129f, and it does happen much sooner in the process, but then, since they actually have no intention of processing the I-129f before the I-130, the change of status doesn't predict anything, except that someone scanned the file's barcode.

Hey, maybe that notification for a K3 visa petition means that they've matched up the 2 files. Still doesn't mean anything, but I'll buy it as a theory!

Is your timeline updated?

Hi Guys,

I just wanted to share my timeline, its been mega fast which has both amazed and pleased me.

Ours is a quicker process I guess as it was simply an adjustment of status, I was in the USA anyway and we married here. Also, we collected together absolutely everything in one package and sent it off altogether.

Sent 16th October, received by them 22nd October.

Even so we had a request for further documents - my birth certificate and more tax documents from my financial sponsor (in-laws), this came just after the biometrics appointment at the end of November and we sent it off just after Christmas.

My EAD arrived 12th Jan and yesterday I got our interview date for the final stage of the application which is March 10th so that is just under 5 months!!

Wanted to share to bring hope that its not always long and painful. I shall post about the interview in March if you like.

Good luck everyone.
