An instructor teaching his militant recruits how to make car bombs accidentally set off explosives in his demonstration Monday, killing 21 of them in a huge blast that alerted authorities to the existence of the rural training camp in an orchard north of Baghdad. Nearly two dozen people were arrested, including wounded insurgents trying to hobble away from the scene.

The fatal goof by the al-Qaida breakaway group that dominates the Sunni insurgency in Iraq happened on the same day that the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, a prominent Sunni whom the militants consider a traitor, escaped unhurt from a roadside bomb attack on his motorcade in the northern city of Mosul.

It's especially bad, for some reason, when it's muslim or islamic.

Unfortunately for a few folks in here, these extreme acts of terrorism define an entire group of people or an entire religion.

It's a shame. And hypocritical, seeing as they wouldn't stand for someone doing that to THEIR group of people or THEIR religion.

The problem with that is there is an assumed prejudice against muslims. You must know, as I do, that the majority of muslims are not terrorists. If you know that, then why would you start a conversation that puts all muslims on a defensive?

I watched a Hindi "docudrama" (what a weird word) on Netflix yesterday, called Black Friday. It was about the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai in 1993, the movie was a cinematic portrayal of the prosecution's case.

One of the scenes in the movie was of 19 terrorist-wannabes (19, there's that number again) going to Pakistan to get trained in the use of RDX, automatic guns and grenades. No actual pictures of a training camp but the words of one of the 19 who turned state. Fascinating stuff.

As I say, why would you start a conversation with a premise that requires muslims to go on the defensive.

Either you believe all or most muslims are either terrorists or otherwise somehow responsible/complicit in it, or you don't. If you don't, then you shouldn't be asking such loaded/prejudiced questions. All it does is expose your own ignorance.
