Future jobs in the USA

So with the prediction of the ACA causing more than 2 mil jobs to be lost over the next few years, and the Marines and Army kicking out more than 300,000 soldiers during the same time, that's going to be a LOT of unemployed people all at once. What will be the happenings in the job world?

The media misread that report. It did not say 2 mil jobs would be lost.

Companies should bring good manufacturing jobs back to the US.

Bahha it's not true LOl..Do what?

So when is the the stampede to bring jobs inshore predicted to happen. I guess the low cost of employee health plans now is going to be a big factor in all those jobs coming home. Also the promise of doubling the Min wage is going to have them foaming at the mouth right?

Not true. Like I said in a previous post, real life example my cousin works 3 jobs. 1 is a non profit they don't offer healthcare benefits and the other is a small employee company that doesn't offer benefits. She picked up a 3rd job on weekends part time at Starbucks b/c they offer benefits to part time employees. Now she can quit that weekend job and buy a healthcare plan through the ACA just like if one of her other jobs offered it.

It's not the end of the world, I don't see why some people can't see the benefit in this. It's not like its free, she is paying for it. In the long run ACA will save jobs, save money, and drive down the cost of healthcare.

What's your definition of "the long run"? Hasn't affected me yet, but those I have talked to are paying a LOT more now than last year. A friend of mine has to come out of pocket over $13,000 before insurance kicks in. How is THAT driving down the cost of healthcare? The cost is still there, but now consumers are paying more instead of the insurance companies.

In the long run the costs will go down because the number of uninsured people going to the emergency rooms will decrease. It was Reagan who signed into law requiring hospitals to treat people who come to the emergency room - which I think most people would agree was a good thing. The problem is a lot of people for whatever reason maybe young, working poor (those that make enough not to receive medicaid but can't afford insurance), or those who just don't have the personal responsibility to buy healthcare goes to the emergency room and they have to be treated. Like any business, those expenses are passed onto the customer (those of us who pay for insurance). Logically over time the costs will decrease.

I got a new job this year, my health care costs aren't that much different...then again mine is provided by my employer so I don't need to shop on the ACA markets. I can't speak about your friend and why he has such a high deductible - either he is really really rich or something is not right with that. I think he should seriously go to the ACA website and find a better deal!

He's self-employed. Real estate agent. Makes good money. But his premiums nearly doubled, and his deductible is now about $7 grand per year. I don't see how someone like him (who has paid for his own insurance all along) paying more now is going to help anyone except the insurance company.

I can't see the costs charged by docs coming down. They will continue to overcharge, but accept whatever the insurance agrees to pay. Some of my bills, I see a 10-20% lower price paid by insurance compared to what is charged. But in a few, I see prices nearly half of what is charged by the doc/hospital.

Everyones deductibles are high if received from ACA from everything I have read so far. Do you have any links showing that everyones deductibles are normal? Also many that had full time jobs are now now reduced to part time. The estimates are pretty high at the loss of jobs occurring according to the CBO.

So what about the ACA is so great?

Is this a 500 for a full year?

I pay about 120 a week for my insurance. My yearly deductible is 4 times your wifes. My premiums have risen 100% in 3 years due to this.

I think you are one of the first I have read who actually did better under ACA. Is this funded thru her work, or entirely on her own?
