hi everyone. i need some help cos i'm getting confused. i've been with my fiancee for over a year now, although we've never met, we talk all the time on the phone and webcam and stuff, all we wanna do now is live together and spend the rest of our lives together, she was gonna come to the uk, but we decided we would have a better life in the US so chose for that instead, we plan to meet up next month, get our marrige certificate and marry a few days later there in the US, we called the marrige license place up and they said we could have one aslong as one of us was a resident of some county, which she is.

we plan to marry and send off a I-130 form before i come back to the UK which we filled in already, her mother read somewhere i can go live there not long after we're married if the I-130 is filled in correct. is this true? or is there more that needs to be done too, cos we wanna live together so bad. also i can't work there for 6 months? which is fine cos my fiancee can support me quite easily.

we planned on living together there sometime in may. is this realistic? what else do we need to do cos i'm stuck.

any help/info/tips/suggestions and ideas will be greaty appreciated, thanks in advance.

ps: happy new year

You've never met? And plan to marry in the U.S.? If you're applying for a K-3 visa, you'd return to the U.K. and wait. Look at other U.S.-U.K. couples to see how long you'd be apart ... 6 months to a year?

If you're planning to visit, marry, and stay, I believe that's called Ajustment of Status and there's a chance of denial. The best advice is to get as much background information here as possible so you have a realistic view and can plan.

Slow down son.

Meet the girl first. Go home, throw it all back on the wall, and see if it sticks.

If it does, then have her file the K1 from here and you'll be back together quicker than marrying in the states and going home. Not to mention being stuck with a partner you barely know......

we can marry legally in the US while i'm on holiday there right?

we can't apply for a k-1 cos we have to prove we've been together 2 years? which we haven't :(

You don't have to have been together for two years, you just have to have met, in person, at some point during the last two years ('met' as in 'seen each other in person', not 'met for the first time' - doesn't matter how long you've known each other), which you haven't, yet.

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

not necessarily - K1's are often, although not always, faster. But you can't apply for K1 if you have never met.

wouldn't it be quicker and easier to get married there, apply for a k-3, come home and wait? rather than apply for a fiancee visa?

thanks

Sandy
