Hi all..

I would appreciate some advise if anyone has any! I am from the UK, recently arrived in the US on my K1 visa, got married to my fiance just over a week ago and am in the process of getting my adjustment of status forms together.

Well, when I went for medical back in the UK before going for my interview, she said my vaccination records were incomplete as it they didn't show I had the MMR vaccination. She asked me if I wanted it then or if I wanted to go back to my doctor and ask them to find the record (if I was sure I had the vaccination). I was sure I had had the vaccination, so not wanting to have it again, I decided I would go back to my doctor and ask them to find the vaccination proof. A nurse at my doctors took it on herself, but unfortunately I have moved around so much it seems that my records have become lost.

So I chose to have the vaccination again in the UK before coming to the US. I got a print out from the surgery proving that I had the vaccination, the nurse stamped it with their address and contact details.

Since starting my adjustment of status forms, I have seen that there is a i693 form, and it says if your vaccination record is incomplete, you need to get a doctor to give you the vaccinations and fill in this form and give you a sealed copy! I only just heard about this form. The doctor where I had the medical for my visa didn't say anything about this form, they just said I needed proof of the vaccination from my doctor.

Can anyone tell me, if you think this will be a problem? Will my adjustment of status be refused? Am I going to have to go to a doctor again here to get the vaccination?

Thank you for any help

Lisa

First, congratulations on your marriage!

If you have completed your immunizations, and have proof of completing them; you will be fine. We sent my vaccination record, and it was accepted. There shouldn't be any need for you to have the immunizations done again.

Oh.. just another question.. was your vaccination record complete? I had to have another vaccination. Then I read about this i-693 form which started me worrying.

I think if your vaccination record is complete there's nothing to worry about, but if you have to have more vaccinations, do you have to get this i-693 form filled in at the same time?

You will need to see a civil surgeon to transcribe all your vaccinations onto an I-693 form. The only vaccination record that USCIS will accept is the DS-3025 form, and it sounds like your vaccinations are incomplete on this form (missing the MMR). You can not simply send another vaccination record that says you have received the MMR, you will need to see a civil surgeon to have it transcribed on a form that will be accepted by USCIS.

Yes, just get your vaccine record (including the new one) transcribed by a Civil Surgeon onto a I-693 form. This should cost around $20-40. There are multiple threads about this in the AOS from K-1 visa forum. And a thread with a list of Civil Surgeons who know about the transcription thing.

We sent just the record from his doctor with his vaccinations hoping they'd accept it but of course they didnt! We got a RFE, went to a civil surgeon with the letter, which was not even written in English (obviously the vaccination names are the same), from his childhood doctor in his home country, along with a flu shot record he just got from a local drug store, and the civil surgeon transcribed it for us. I think it cost about $60 for us. We did have to call around to several civil surgeons because some of them insisted and argued with me that he needed the medical exam again which of course would cost another few hundred dollars. We finally found one that knew what we were talking about though. So just make sure you explain exactly what you need when calling them and don't let them tell you that you need another medical!

Just wanted to say congrats and thanks for posting as looking at the replies it has given me a valuable insight into everything, especially that some want you to have another medical.

Thanks for the question and the answer. I am in the same situation. Got my MMR done in London at Knightsbridge so it's recorded on the DS 3025. But I had to get these a second time by my own dr a month later so they are on his letter headed documents. All completed before POE so I did wonder if I needed them transcribed. Too many threads on this topic and lots of conflicting info. Will work on finding a reasonably priced CS to transcribe vaccinations in the NJ area.

Thanks again for the help guys
