This question has probably been asked many times, but i haven't been able to find the answer on the site yet. Once my fiancee arrives in the US on a K1 visa, will she not be able to work unless she obtains special documentation? I'm very confused about the whole order of citizenship deal. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

IF your fiancee comes to the US via JFK airport then she will most likely receive temporary work authorization in which case they will stamp her passport with an expiration date 3 months ahead. IF it is important to you that she works when she gets here then I would reccomend going through JFK.

After that she will have to file to adjust status to get her greencard. At that point she can wait to get her greencard to be able to work after her temp EAD is expired or she can file for EAD with her AOS (greencard) application which allows her to work while she is waiting to get her greencard. The EAD application is separate from the I-485 (adjustment of status) and can be filed along with the I-485. The point of it is to be able to work legally before being approved for a greencard which can take months.

K-1 is technically work eligible for 90 days after entering the country, though employers will not employ them unless the K-1 holder shows an EAD stamp or card. JFK airport is the only POE that stamps passport with EAD stamp, though for how long is anyone's guess.

Order to do things are wait 2 weeks after entry into USA on K-1 and go to SSA office and get SS number, Get married, then File for AOS, and EAD card.

True, citizenship is a different subject than eligibility to work. Can only apply for citizenship (Naturalize) 3 years after getting Green-Card.
