I am filing my n 400 based on five years of continuous residency residency. In 2007 I got two one speeding ticket and one improper lane change before I become a green card holder.

I am answering yes to being cited by a law officer. However, although I paid these citations, I don't have a record of payment. Any thoughts on how to obtain a proof that I have paid so I can submit it along with the application? and what say on the application to explain?

Thank you.

Usually to obtain the court dockets regarding the citation, you go to either the county office or the court house that has jurisdiction over such citations, in your case it will be the traffic court. Ask them you need records regarding the citation. They will ask you for some information and afterwards, retrieve the file for you. Ask them to make copies of the file for you and ensure they stamp it with the courts stamp to show authenticity.

When sending it to USCIS, just explain the circumstances leading to the citation and indicate, you paid the necessary fines or explain the disposition of the case, you should be fine. Speeding tickets are just minor violations, and you will be fine.

Thank you so much for the answer. I will contact the court and request the docs. I have moved to a different state since then- I hope they can mail or fax the docs.

How about parking violations? I have more than 10 parking violations in Washington DC. I paid all of them. None of these were cited by an officer- all of them are by parking enforcement people.

Thoughts?

Thanks again.
