Hi all, I had posted a long while back before I had filed the K1 and got some good help, but I've discovered a bit more about my situation that has me worried.

I'm a full time student so I will be using my father as a joint-sponsor for the K1. He does not receive pension or social security (yet, he's holding off until he's older). He works contract work for his old company for extra spending money but that makes about 95% of the poverty level for 4 people. He has more than 5x assets available through his own investments (mutual funds, savings funds, etc), will this be enough for us?

K1 not likely to be an issue, for AoS they seem to prefer income. But then your situation may differ by then.

You can also self sponsor a K1,even easier.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Self sponsor? She has no income or assets of her own that could meet the requirements if thats what you mean.

Requirements for K1 are pretty low.
