Hi All,

I got my green card because my husband is a US CItizen. Now my husband wanted a divorce from me and applied divorce..my question is I need to apply for name change on my green card...If I apply for my name change on green card..will i need to attend any interview again to have my new green card?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Sravanthi

hi

no, once you have your divorce decree you file the i90

www.uscis.gov/forms and find the i90 and read the instructions. but you cannot change your last name until the divorce decree is final and you are single again using your maiden name

Even you are divorce with your husband, if it is your choice to keep his surname with you, you can do it. How long is your marriage with your USC husband? Is your green card a conditional? I wish you can remove the condition of your green card before getting divorce, otherwise you cannot get another green card. If your husband is abusive you can get a waiver so that you can still have the chance of getting Permanent Resident.
