So we are suppose to buy American cars to support the CEOs wo own and operate the corporations?

Yes - as opposed to buying Japanese cars to support the CEOs who own and operate Japanese corporations.

PT cruisers are, always were, and always will be gross.

That said I drive 2 POS vans. (Piece Of Sh!t)..Honda Odyssey '96 over 170k and a Chevy Astro 8 passenger job '97 130k.

I tend to drive things until they drop dead of old age. "Yeah, it's crappy but it's paid for." :D

I totaly agree with you about the PT Loser. I rented once before. I travel back to home and got it at the airport..( not by choice) and the first thing I said oh what a piece of #######. I get in it and the feel and look of it, looks like it is cheap and junky. It is very guttles on the road.

When i got home my father was outside and it took me 5 mins to try to get the keys out of the ignition. The first thing I said to my father and it was not hello, but, THIS CAR is a PIECE OF SH!t

to others.. I had both american cars and non american cars. I had 3 VW's (i traded one for a SUV one) which was a major mistake.

I currently own a VW.

My car before i got a vw was a Saturn.. I had nothing but problems with it. It was Saturns 'second chance car' and had problems with that.. I had to get a valve job on it, had to replace the starter and other problems.. the first satrun I had was a major nightmare.. everything went wrong. But I think it is still going strong after 15 yrs which I am surpised :P

so buying american is not always a good thing. I never had any problems with my VW's nothing

Take care

I had a brand New 1985 VW Rabbit Diesel and I lived in snow country ...North Idaho.. and and we are talking 5-6 ft. of snow..to the point you couldn't tell where the road was at...or see the fence post tops on pastures along the road... -40 wind chill etc.., with a set of studds on it ..it would go anywhere until it hi-centered.. and then it was light enough you could pry it of the snow..and keep going... Excellent car in the snow..!!!! just had to remember to mix the Diesel with gasoline during these cold days... or the Diesel would jell...

We have a Chrysler, and the battery is below the wheel. But, I mean, how often does one have to change the battery???

About every 5 years or so... of course everyones mileage varies...but what I found out is Batteries have the most accurate warranty out there... if it's warrantied for 60 months.. pretty much bank it won't last much longer...

Right. I don't think having to go through the process of taking off the wheel in order to change the battery will be too difficult once every five years!

And once you do it once...You get faster.... But really only a select few keep a care past the payoff.. so you'll be lucky to do it once.. :)

People may think that it is dumb to put the battery there. If it is in the engine it gets hot in their and the battery does lose some of it life and will die out. If the battery is in a cooler place it will maybe last longer. I am not 100% sure but I think the VW touareg car battery is under the drivers seat. I think they have a charge post in the engine so you just charge the batter or jump it from their.

hmmm...i always have sorta liked the way the PT Cruiser looks. that said, when my mom was looking for her car, we test drove a PT and i have to say...it really felt like a very cheap car inside...poor handling, lots of noise inside...it's really not that cool after all.

i drive a big ol' dodge durango. :)

not true at all. It depends on weather conditions, if you have corrosion, terminal care and the battery itself. I've seen brand new batteries with a bad cell. Yes, it is recommended that you check your battery monthly for corrosion. With a wheel in the way, i'm sure it's not that easy.

Right now Joel and I are a little pissed off with Kia. We have a 2005 Spectra. We recently had a flat...damn tire was only 18 months old and it tore up like a kid ripping into a present. The spare doesn't even fit!!!! Kia roadside assistance sucks majorly. We were stranded on the side of the road for nearly three hours, it was cold, and my asthma decided to kick in and cause problems (note to self: get adapter for nebulizer to use in car!). Kia roadside assistance offered to have the car towed to the local Kia dealership (an hour away) but couldn't confirm if the dealership was open. When I asked what we would do if it wasn't open she replies "That will be up to you. I can't help you with that". We wound up opting to have the car towed to a local Wal-Mart that has a tire/lube centre (Kia says they refuse to pay for that) so we could get a new tire. The tire centre at Wal-Mart closes at 8...the tow truck didn't get us there til 8:05. AUGH! We wound up leaving the car in their lot overnight and calling a taxi to get home ($35 for a 30 mile trip...not bad I guess). The thing that makes me so flippin' mad is the tires are only 18 months old. The spare doesn't fit. And I'm not even sure Kia will compensate us for anything. What a crock of sh!t.

Next car will NOT be a Kia!
