Heck even a Lada(Russian) would last if I traded it in every 3 years....mmmm or would it....

Plus...you need to figure in cost of ownership...

I would own a hyundai I think they are getting better each year.. Really trying.. and the warranty would help in my decision making..

well my parents are on thier 3rd have been trading in every couple years, they love them, put 1000s of miles on them.

Dad is a very carfeful shopper arounder, test drives, reads the hell up on things (almost to the point of annoying), has extensive mechanical knowledge, and still just traded in on another so...they cant be all that bad :P

But your dad only keeps them around so long. He hasn't had one long enough to see how well they stand the test of time.

I had to get that off my chest.

PT Cruisers are poorly engineered. I'd never buy a Dodge/Chrysler after seeing some of the engineering nightmares they produce. For example, to get to the battery in a Sebring, you have to remove the front passenger side tire because the battery is behind the wheel. That's ridiculous. Another example would be a lot of the later model Dodge trucks. In some, you have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly (200+ just for the part) in order to change the fuel filter.

As someone who has a sebring.. The battery is actually not as difficult as you might think to get out and in (and its on the driver's side, not the passenger side..).. Not really any more difficult to change than some other cars.. There wasn't any room for it under the hood since they have packed everything else in there so tightly! Besides which.. you can still jump it from under the hood so its not that difficult at all.. We love our Sebring (convertible) its an awesome car!

But yeah.. definately do not like the PT Cruiser.. ugly ugly ugly...

It's packed full because of the poor engineering design. While I can appreciate that you enjoy your vehicle, it just doesn't make sense to have it where it is currently located. Batteries need maintenace and upkeep and with the battery disguised, like it is with the Sebring, I've seen a countless number of these vehicles have troubles because of this. Sort of the "out of sight" syndrome.

Not really.. Batteries today are almost always maintenance free and require no maintenance and generally can't be serviced anyways.. For a part that one really only has to look at every couple of years.. Why not put it there? Sebrings aren't exactly made to be an easy service vehicle.. how many people driving them would be working on their own car anyways? Oil is easy to change.. most of the other fluids don't seem to be so hard.. How then is it a poor engineering design? I've seen worse in engine bays before.. My old mazda was at least as packed... Not everyone wants a car with a giant nose on it..

Yes, but if you are having problems with corrosion and even leakage, you can't readily see the battery to inspect it. That's inviting trouble. Believe me, I see this daily...I work at an auto parts store part-time and see battery terminals and posts that are completely covered in corrosion. This has a negative effect on the car and the performance of the car.

You would be extremely surprised to learn how many people actually do work on their own vehicle. The Auto Zone's, Advance, O'Reilly, NAPA and Pep Boy's of the industry count on these people for business. DIY's are the main source of their business.

It's poor engineering because YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF YOUR WHEEL TO GET TO THE BATTERY. That's why it's poor engineering. You should not have to do that.

I don't like walking... I'll take a Toyota, Honda or Subaru in that order over anything else.. Don't beleive... Let me know the next time you see a Toyota or Honda on the side of the road broke down(not outta gas)...

I drive a 86 Toyota Pickup...186,000 miles and going strong... Lets see you do that with only minor repairs with a american car..

Ex has a 93 Toyota Tercel... 165,000 only thing major if you want to call it that.. The ignition Coil went out $25 and I fixed it.. and batteries, tires...which is normal wear and tear...

PS

Chryler would be the last choice car to buy..... they don't even keep most models around long enough to work the bugs out....and how will they be for parts 10 years down the road.. ?

Our other car has been out of production for over 15 years and we still have absolutely no problems finding parts for it.. (its a chevy but still) and our 9 year old chrysler is also still quite easy to find parts for.. Unless you have a very rare vehicle parts are usually easy to find thanks to the huge aftermarket parts market..

Yeah, you're not going to have problems finding parts for those vehicles. Especially domestic vehicles. You'd even find import parts easily too...you just have to pay a premium. That's when the import car buyers really start to complain. HOW COME IT COST 240 FOR MY MAZDA 6 ALTERNATOR BUT THAT CHEVY TRUCK ALTERNATOR IS ONLY 70?

No, but with the money that the Japanese corporations get, they use it to buy up companies and corporations in the U.S. Further putting our country into a tumultous spiral. One day, these foreign investors will pull out and we'll be screwed...like depression screwed.

All I wanted to do was talk about my hatred for PT Losers. I'll continue to do so while you guys talk about American versus foreign cars and such.

So anyways I just hate those cars so much. They look so stupid. There's also another one that's kind of like the PT Loser and I think it's newer. I really hate that new one too.

I saw some kid have one that was all fixed up with rims, lowered, paint job and everything. It made me want to throw up in my mouth.

What is the newer one that is like the Loser?

Wow I can't believe someone would do that to such a loser car.

I can't think of the name of that new car but I'm thinking it's a chevy no?
