I have a ford Escape and my dad bought it for me during my last year of high school even though he said he would never buy a Ford. (He's more of a European car person). Anyways it's a great car and I am surprised at how well it is still doing. I have never had any problems with it.

I saw a new Honday CRV on the freeway the other day and that is a good looking car for a small SUV. I thought it was a BMW. It looks much better than the old boxy ones.

I had to get that off my chest.

PT Cruisers are poorly engineered. I'd never buy a Dodge/Chrysler after seeing some of the engineering nightmares they produce. For example, to get to the battery in a Sebring, you have to remove the front passenger side tire because the battery is behind the wheel. That's ridiculous. Another example would be a lot of the later model Dodge trucks. In some, you have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly (200+ just for the part) in order to change the fuel filter.

As someone who has a sebring.. The battery is actually not as difficult as you might think to get out and in (and its on the driver's side, not the passenger side..).. Not really any more difficult to change than some other cars.. There wasn't any room for it under the hood since they have packed everything else in there so tightly! Besides which.. you can still jump it from under the hood so its not that difficult at all.. We love our Sebring (convertible) its an awesome car!

But yeah.. definately do not like the PT Cruiser.. ugly ugly ugly...

It's packed full because of the poor engineering design. While I can appreciate that you enjoy your vehicle, it just doesn't make sense to have it where it is currently located. Batteries need maintenace and upkeep and with the battery disguised, like it is with the Sebring, I've seen a countless number of these vehicles have troubles because of this. Sort of the "out of sight" syndrome.

I think PT Cruisers are cute...they remind me of the old surfing cars, lol

But I'm happy with my car and would never drive a PT

We call them "PT Losers"

I am happy with my current vehicle. I bought a Ford Fusion about 3 months ago.

1DET07.jpg

Mine is just like that, same color but I've tinted it and added a spoiler to it. It's a great ride...I enjoy driving it.

Did you compare it's performance to Toyota or Honda? Those two companies consistly make reliable cars in the compact range that I don't see how anyone would buy anything less.

Yeah mrc! Take it back to the store cos clearly you didn't think it thru well enuff ;)

I don't like walking... I'll take a Toyota, Honda or Subaru in that order over anything else.. Don't beleive... Let me know the next time you see a Toyota or Honda on the side of the road broke down(not outta gas)...

I drive a 86 Toyota Pickup...186,000 miles and going strong... Lets see you do that with only minor repairs with a american car..

Ex has a 93 Toyota Tercel... 165,000 only thing major if you want to call it that.. The ignition Coil went out $25 and I fixed it.. and batteries, tires...which is normal wear and tear...

PS

Chryler would be the last choice car to buy..... they don't even keep most models around long enough to work the bugs out....and how will they be for parts 10 years down the road.. ?

Yes, it ranked higher than the Camry and Sonata both by JD Powers and Car and Driver. It was just below the Accord according to the Car and Driver but higher than Accord according to JD Powers. It has gotten great ratings since its inception. This is a mid-size sedan range...Sonata, Camry, Accord are in its class.

But your dad only keeps them around so long. He hasn't had one long enough to see how well they stand the test of time.

Sarah said the woody makes her throw up in her mouth.

I can't remember which make and model it was, but there was a car that, in order to change the oil, the engine had to be removed. No kidding.

I've never heard of that before. I'm sure it was some custom or extremely pricey sports car, if it even exists. It's certainly no production vehicle.

It was an American production model. I remember because they were discussing complaints about it on a consumer protection show.

Yeah, they are going on about seven or eight years if I remember correctly. 1998 or 99.

Please back up your comment with a make and model. I'm definitely intrigued to see what vehicle this was. I work in auto parts in my part-time and I've never heard of such a beast.
