Hi all,

Did any one from Mumbai consulate attend F2A or other category VISA interviews in the past one week and got their Case status changed to Issued or got their passport already?

Wife had her interview on Feb 3rd and Case status hasn't changed from Ready to Issued except that the status was updated on Feb 3rd 2014 on CEAC website. Second, i tried tracking passport through US traveldocs website and don't have any case info either. Planning to give it another week before i contact my congressman's office to know about the status of the passport. Any one else in the same situation? Wife was told by CO that VISA is approved and she would get her passport in 4 days. She was also given the paper about paying $165 before she leaves for the U.S.

I got two responses from US traveldocs.

Response 1 to my first question about status of passport:

Dear Mr. XXXXXX,

Thank you for writing to the U.S. Visa Service Desk.

We understand that you would like to know the status of the passport number "XXXXXXXXX"”.

With regards to your query, we would like to inform you that, the status of the applicant's passport is “Created”, which means that the passport is with the Embassy/Consulate and her visa application is under processing. Once the processing is completed and the passport is “Ready for pickup” you may collect the same from your pickup location.

Please follow the link: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-passporttrack.asp to check the status of the passport.

We hope this answers your query.
Have a pleasant day!

Yours Sincerely,
U.S. Visa Service Desk.

Response to the second question where i asked them how long should we wait:-

Dear Mr. XXXXXX,

Thank you for responding to the U.S. Visa Service Desk.

We understand that you have a query regarding your spouse's passport collection.

With regards to your query, we would like to inform you that, all the applicants should be aware that the processing time advised is an average time, and that the actual processing time of individual cases can vary due to individual circumstances and other special requirements.

Please be assured that, once the processing is completed, if her case is under administrative processing or if the Embassy needs further information, you will be intimated about the same. Hence, we request you to kindly wait.

We hope this answers your query.
Have a pleasant day!

Yours Sincerely,
U.S. Visa Service Desk.

Take it easy man . you are the one out off millions who got every thing in fast track.

wait for few more days.

good luck.

Thanks for the "Encouraging words". Just because i got the paper work right doesn't mean i can't expect a clear answer from US traveldocs. Waiting for few more days is what i will do and my question was if any one had experienced the same situation. Looks like you didn't but can shoot in the foot eh?

I guess it is just an administrative issue and nothing to worry about. Once we have the pamphlet to pay $165, that is it.

Not sure if you have tried calling any of these numbers that ustraveldocs provides for any live update:

For inquiries, call: From India: 91-120-4844644 or 91-40-4625-8222

From US: 1-703-520-2239

(8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday)

Good luck!

Thanks. I emailed them and got the above response. Will wait this week to hear back from US travel docs or change in status on CEAC website. The status got updated to Feb 10th but still stuck at READY.

I hope so. I wouldn't be too concerned if the CEAC status had showed as ISSUED. Being stuck at READY after the interview and taking CO's word of mouth does create some jitters.

If given a choice after i become USC next year i might apply for a job in DOS and take all these short comings to the department and see if i can minimize these frustrations encountered by applicants. I can think about 100 different ways the process can be improved.

I hope the status becomes "ISSUED" this week. I can understand if the case went to AP if you were given a 221g, but sounds pretty dumb where they put your status on AP with a status message that it will take weeks to process after saying that your VISA was approved by the CO during the interview(No docs were asked by the CO) and asking you to pay $165 before you travel to the U.S. If they really wanted additional time to process the case for whatever reason why couldn't they do it before or why would you say that VISA is approved and you should get your passport in 4 days with the VISA.

Sure. Be my guest. Calling white house won't help much but if you could get through US travel docs ROBOT message and guy who repeats the CEAC status message and also through to the CO at mumbai consulate that would be great. Try calling US travel docs, follow the prompt for immigrant visa and when you press "5" as per prompt to speak to an agent it goes to the Non immigrant Visa section and they don't route the call. They ask you to call back to the immigrant visa section. Huh? Fun eh?

Looks like you are one of those million people who doesn't have the experience(or might to call US travel docs for fun to get that experience) but always show up with his 2 cents irrespective of whether your 2 cents has any relevance or meaning. Thanks but no thanks!

Yes I totally agree, the whole process is very painful for the applicants especially when you keep counting days and the journey never seems to end. I hope every family is united at the earliest. I wish and pray we can do something to make sure DOS works as smoothly as it should....I am really sorry about your waiting. Wish you get the passport very soon
