it wasn't OBAMA that set us aside. It was USCIS.... it trying to personally blame President Obama for the inefficiency of USCIS just doesn't make sense.

This only happened because of his diktat to fast-track illegals though. Regardless of how efficient USCIS is or isn't, this situation was thrust upon them by Obama, so blaming them makes no sense. As the NYTimes article rightly points out, if this had gone through regular legislative channels, there would have been funding to deal with the extra workload.

They also increased their fees, and haven't increased their workforce. They said that they are having unexpected problems with filling positions. So funding wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

I reiterate, they could have rolled out DACA and taken a few resources from each immigrant class to avoid delaying any one class too much. Instead, they decided to impact the K1's and then standalone I130's. That's on the USCIS, not the president.

Well I blame Obama AND USCIS. It was Obamas baby and I really do think that he wanted it pushed through and f*** everyone who might be impacted by it. He's the man at the top and he made the decision and he has to shoulder some of the blame. For their part USCIS stitched up K1 filers and then took all of the resources away from processing I-130's while processing K1's super fast when it would have been possible to spread their resources more evenly. They have also been woeful at communicating with us and being honest about the problems.

Or they could have not rolled out DACA, and we would have all been approved by now.

Seriously: this unilateral, partisan, end-run around Congress strategy to aid illegals is simply outrageous.

They were responding to an executive order. They have no ability to circumvent those. Once he made the order, they had to comply. My contention is that they could have handled it much better.

so what's our next move?

I would like to put together that info packet that we would be able to send out to our representatives and the leadership at the USCIS. I'd also like to do some data-mining and check that the numbers in their quarterly reports match the monthly reports that they put out. In order to do that, we're going to need to compile the information for each local office as well as the service centers.

Is there anything that we can do to help get this information together?

And my contention remains that the president swears to uphold the laws of the land, and that means not ignoring the constitutional "advise & consent" role of the legislature just because he's got some whack notion of "fundamentally transforming America". ranting33va.gif

Don't forget: You've been bumped back 500,000 places in the visa line because of his unwillingness to live up to his oath of office.

I read a few years back K1 filers sent Hershey kisses to USCIS or something when incurred a backlog. It got attention. We need to raise awareness. They did it for Valentine's I believe.

Its a neat idea.

I haven't forgotten anything, I'm still in the thick of it. I'm not going to argue that presidents don't get to make executive orders, because they most certainly do, even if I disagree with them. The point here is that attempting to argue against illegal aliens, DACA, or the president's role in it is not going to fix the situation that we're in. The USCIS's handling of it is what exasperated this situation, and the people that we should be focusing on as they are the people who can fix the current situation.

In any case, for the data mining, what we need to do is go back through the volume data for each office, and list the amounts for each month. (So from here: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/ )

Agana field office (Dec. 31, 2013)

Pending cases: 178

Awaiting Customer Action: 0

Completions: 52

Receipts: 36

And to do any info before we'll have to look at the trend chart, because they've cleared out the spreadsheet information prior to Dec. (They had several years worth of information available in the spreadsheet before, no idea why they started clearing out the previous information. Also, the information on the service centers is unreliable beyond October 2013. The spreadsheets available do show that there were cases there previously, but the information that was contained in those was significantly changed about that time. It now seems like there were no cases going to Nebraska, ever, for instance, but we know that's not true. And prior to Nov. the chart in Nebraska looked like a rollercoaster. Going UP and Plummeting down. Not sure if AILA has copies of that info, but it's worth checking into.

Once we add up the numbers for the field offices, we should be able to compare them to the quarterly reports.

That's actually a really cool, think outside the box idea.

Although Hershey kisses taste so disgusting that if any of the USCIS staff had indulged they'd probably be off work sick and not working on petitions laughing.gif

this is really awful, and what i now realize is that K1 visa are now being dealt with more faster than green cards for immediate family/spouse who r already married. No offence to the fiancées but they r getting thru more faster than us who r married.

Now, yes. In 2012-2013 for CSC K1 filers, not really. But I see it was before your time.

I wonder why all the VJ peanut gallery brain trust members who denied DACA's involvement in the USCIS slowdowns are silent now?
