On the front page it says that a notorary or person who can administer oaths can sign off on this form but every notary I have taken the form to has told me they can't sign it. Is that true or do they just not know? I have went to several banks and even made a trip to the court house to get a judge to do the oath but was told that is not possible. What do I need to do to get this paper completed?

My fiance just took it to the bank where a Notary worked, and got it signed fine... maybe show them the instructions where it says to get a notary to sign it. I don't know why they wouldn't be comfortable doing it?

who do you bank with? I use Bank of America and have never had a problem getting things notorized. I see you live in Chicago, what part? the reason I ask is I have some family that lives up there.

Are you guys talking about of the affidavit of support I-864?? I just went back and read the description and the steps, and it does not say anywhere about having the forms notorized or anything like that.

I just went to a notary public in my county, had no problem. they just checked what was filled on the form. witnessed my signature, checking it against my ID. then notary stamped and signed it.

Are you talking about the I-134? Your bank should be able to notarize at no charge with no problem - mine did. If you go to a bank where you do not do business, they will refuse because they don't know you, and what they are notarizing is that you are who you say you are.

Hanster, The OP is talking about I-134, it needs to be notarized.

I find It hard to understand that a notary is giving you a hard time with this form, don' t sign the form until you are with the Notary, if you pre-signed the form you may have a problem.

My bank, 5/3, also notarized it with no problem.

Well, okay, a little problem. She signed it on the wrong line, the one that says she filled out the form for me. So I have to go back and get that redone.

But still. No hesitation, no charge.

As a Notary I would say that perhaps the ones you went to were confused as to the purpose of their jobs. A Notary is merely signing that they have witnessed that a document was signed by the person alegedly signing it. There is no liability or expectation that the Notary is responsible for any information contained in that docuement...

If she has already signed the form, then the notary is correct. They must witness the signature as it happens.

If that's the case you need to prepare another I-134 and take it unsigned to a notary, where they will comply with your request.
