So .. here's my update.

My I-130 AOS was approved March 6th. Here's where the confusion starts .. Immigration is telling me one thing, and the Visa Center is telling me another :(

I am in the process of obtaining my status, through marriage to my husband. We have been married almost 2 years (in June), and are trying to wade through the mess of Immigration. I have had my I-130 approved, but I am being given different direction from the Visa Dept, and from what we were told by Immigration. The Visa Dept. Says they will only process it if I go back to Montreal, PQ for the interview ... they said that they should not have gotten the form, and that I don't need a visa .. :ranting: but need to file my 485 .. immigration said to contact the Visa Dept, and that they are done with my case
I'm confused, and would appreciate some information on what the next step would be. I would rather NOT have to go back to Canada, as I was instructed by immigration that it would prolong my process, and even have to start it from scratch.
I would appreciate any advice, thank you.

An I-130 doesn't govern adjustment of status, though it is used for it. The I-485 is the primary form to apply for adjustment of status.

The advice I gave above still stands: follow the AoS guide: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=i130guide2 but in lieu of an I-130 enclose a copy of the approval notice of your I-130. USCIS will then request your approved I-130 back from DoS and you will be interviewed at your local USCIS office for adjustment of status.

I'm not sure why you haven't done this already.
