Saddam hanging video

If I showed a video of a guy brutally killing a little puppy and then someone subsequently killing him, I'm sure I'd get some reaction to the sort of "he deserved it". How can he kill an innocent puppy like that?!

Not from me you wouldn't! Come on, that's a really bad analogy.

ha ha...I liked that analogy. Just pretend he killed the puppy in a tremendously horrible way. Unspeakable ways. Or he threw the puppy out of a moving car on the Freeway then ran it over.

Is it better now?

I hate puppies.

Oh, c'mon...who hates puppies? Alright...what about a little tiny fuzzy kitty?

Why would I celebrate the death of an animal killer, but not celebrate the death of Saddam Hussein? That's just silly.

I don't need to see a video of anyone being killed - the puppy mangler, a death row mass murderer, or Saddam Hussein. A man has been killed. He killed many other men. There is no glory here anywhere, and no need to rejoice. Each of us has to find our own path to our own conscience. Find satisfaction in this video if you want or don't - that is your choice. Allow me my right to find none. It has nothing to do with his guilt or innocence, and everything to do with my own personal choice.

This is what I've been trying to say to those who are judging people for taking a more animated stance.

But, you do say there is no need to rejoice. I'd defer a comment like that to the hundreds of thousands of families that lost loved ones in Iraq because of Saddam. I'm sure they find plenty of reason to rejoice or at least find satisfaction.

Somehow - to me, to rejoice in the death of one man -regardless of how guilty he is -by the hands of society, is to rejoice in the death of all who are killed whether in war, in crime or by society. I am saddened by the death of the many as much as by the death of a few, or one. I look forward to a time when we as a civilization find no need or desire to kill ourselves or each other and no longer celebrate death in any of its disguises. This is, as I mentioned above, my choice. I do not require anyone else to follow it, but I can always hope.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

All of this puppy talk reminds me of savetoby.com. That guy raised a lot of money for himself after he threatened to eat the bunny if he didn't raise a certain amount of money.

mmmm had some tasty bunnies in tuscany

Very eloquently stated! Thank you! I agree totaly

His death is based on tragedy. The tragedy of all those killed by him. To me it doesn't seem something to rejoice about - that's my opinion. Happiness over his death doesn't take any of the pain or sadness left behind away.

Especially when very many people did not get their day in court to bear witness to the crimes of humaity perpetrated against them.

It could be staged like the astronauts landing on the moon.

You too huh? :P

I'm not sure if I believe the moon conspiracy or not.. but just a thought, with all the technology we have available to us, surely we would be able to use a telescope of some sort to focus in on where we landed to see if the flag and the lander are still there? That would be the definative answer.. if we can't, surely we can then send a satalie to take pictures to put this question to bed

the average telescope (say a 14" s-c) cannot even see the lunar lander.

Just replace that guy killing the puppy with Saddam and replace the puppy with hundreds of thousands of innocent people. You just weren't privy to the information about all the horrible things this guy has done. If you want to feel remorse and solitude for him, that's up to you. I certainly don't fault you for that or fault those who are a little more animated.

Not from me you wouldn't! I'd say the guy is sick and prob needs a little visit with a padded room, but there is never an excuse for murder, ever, never, ever, never. And murdering a murder is included in the never ever.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.
