I will be applying under 3 years rule, hopefully soon. We have been married for 8 years while husband was waiting for his GC and I was on student visa.

I just wanted to see if I really need to submit the tax transcripts (IRS is taking their sweet time to send those things I have requested them 3 weeks ago and nothing yet) Our tax returns are MIA husband is not sure where he hid them.

So I have so far:

  • Check for fee payment
  • N-400 completed
  • Copies of my 10 year green card since 2010
  • Two photos of me
  • Copy of UCS spouse certificate of naturalization
  • Marriage certificate of 8 years marriage
  • Birth certificates of our 3 biological children born after marriage.
  • Car insurance in both our names

I would include

  • Bank statements - how many months?

Do I really need those Tax transcript??? I try to call IRS but the computer hangs up on me saying info I provide is incorrect.

You can send like two months of bank statements. That's what I did. You know you can print your transcripts now from the IRS. you don't have to wait for them. Good luck

For the bank statements - Just do a selection from the last few years - for example - 1 from the last 3-4 Januarys - if nothing changes year to year you don't have to send them 36 statements! I highlighted both my husband's and my pays being deposited, the address which we shared etc... Same thing with any other bills we shared or that came to our shared address.
