I told you guys a couple of weeks ago about my dog's huge brown wax buildup in her ears. We've taken her to the vet twice since for a bacterial and yeast infection and used daily ear rinses, two different ear drops, oral antibiotics, and the dog's ears are still gross. They aren't quite as gross, but now she keeps shaking her head with her new ear drops and spraying the walls with gunk, like a brown bloody mucus and big spots of it. I am constantly washing it off the walls, the furniture, the floor. It is just really gross. I also don't get where it is coming from because I thoroughly getting out everything I can reach with a thin cotton pad.

I guess it is back to the vet.

Sorry for anyone who might have been eating while reading that.

This reminds me of when our chihuahua got that mystery illness several months back right before hubby's interview and all his hair fell out. His skin got really dry and flaky and was just falling out everywhere. Waking up to huge flaky bits of dog skin/fur... eww.

YAY JADA!! :D many congrats! I hope everything goes well for you, and make sure to give us all a detailed account of everything that happens. :)

Speaking of interviews, I have mine tomorrow! :) Very excited to go talk my way into this job. Think of me tomorrow at noon!

My lab had this issue, we had to clean her ears a lot after we moved here. The vet said it could be an allergy since she would get it often. Grab some cotton balls and clean her ears with peroxide then add the drops. That yeast is the worse it stinks to the high heavens, drove my dog nuts always flapping her ears. I would also dig out chunks with a q-tip, but labs have big ears and I could see what I was doing. Heck a cotton ball wold get pretty deep in her ears too.

So we have our first appointment with the fertility clinic on Monday and I am a bundle of nerves, plus they are doing a pap and I haven't had one in like 5.5 years or so and then an internal ultrasound. dead.gifdead.gif This process is so much more invasive for women than men.

My daughter has her first ice skating lesson on Saturday. content.gif Let's hope she doesn't cry the whole time.

Yep, using q-tips and those flat cotton ball type things because they get a little deeper. My dog has bigger ears than a lab, but the vet told me not to go further in than the width of my finger, so that must be where the mucus is coming from?

I think I'm going to try the hydrogen peroxide in the mornings. Right now at night she is getting a prescription flush with anti fungal and anti bacterial, plus the ear drops morning and night.

This is the first time it has happened with her and she is pretty old, she's been pretty healthy for a dog.

Worst part of it was the Dane just painted the kitchen and dining room last week and I had to wipe that stuff off. Good news is that the washable paint seems to have withstood it. We've been holding off on painting the living room until it stops.

Ugh I know the feeling, men do get away with so much. Good luck on monday hopefully they can give some answers right away.

Good luck to the little one, I hope she enjoys it.

Vets are all different mine told me I couldn't go too deep into her ear. I still tried not too just in case. We had to use the peroxide pretty regularly or the ear infections would come back. Our dog liked to rub her head and ears all over the couch and carpet drove me nuts.
