will do, uncle d. i have cooked her recipes from the time i lived in the dorms at uni but it will be a while till i acquire all the tools she has at her disposal like..

pressure cooker

steamer

granite mortar and pestle

fancy pants blender

etc

until then i will content myself with pictures and memories...or, if you all want to give us wedding presents, that would be cool too. :P

I suspect some kind of H1. Because I did get a flu shot. And I still got this flu... And I was fairly good all year.

About 4 (5? Many) years ago, I got the flu. Went to the doc, who said that it was the Swine Flu: "The regular flu season isn't here, and everyone else who's come in has the same symptoms that you have, and we diagnosed the early ones to have the Swine Flu."

Mrs. T-B. was in the waiting-room when I came out. This dialogue ensued:

Mrs. T-B.: What do you have?

T-B.: I'll tell you when we're in the elevator.

[in elevator] T-B.: I have the Porcina [swine flu].

Mrs. T-B. [at top of lungs]: WHAAAT?! Porcina?! Do you have to go to the hospital?

T-B. [amused]: Nope; just rest in bed and at home for a full week.

Mrs. T-B.: For la Porcina?!

T-B.: Si, Cariño [sweetheart].

We got home (si man, it was indeed 5/Many years ago) and Mrs. T-B. began calling all her family in Ecu, jabbering excitedly in Spanish that her new husband had the Porcina. (Note: Family was all terrified of the Porcina, carried hand-sanitizer with them wherever they went, etc.) Mama-Mrs.-T-B. insisted on speaking with me. This dialogue ensued:

Mama-Mrs.-T-B.: abbadabbadabbadabba enferme [sick] abbadabbadabbadabba Porcina...

T-B. [getting headache from the jabbering]: Soy un puerco [i am a pig]. Oink oink oink.

Mama-Mrs.-T-B.: [nervous laugh]

By about the 5th/Manyth phone call, Mrs. T-B. said, "They're all asking me if you're going to die. I'm telling them 'no, I'm not that lucky.'"

The Porcina was the first flu that I'd had since about 1997 (which was also the last time I got a flu shot). It was milder than the 1997 flu was, as far as I can remember.

This doesn't make Steveklar feel any better, but it's a good and true story, si man.
