I'd think you would need the original BC and the original translation. The document certified by the Thai govt. should work as well, but again it would need to an original.

A certified copy by issuer is jusy as acceptable as an original. My birth certificate is a certified copy.

When you obtain these items think to the future because of the citizenship requirements. I just spent 60 days getting my daughters docs in order because of this issue. Much easier if in Thailand.
