I received a letter today saying that they want a 2012 tax return transcript of my wife for initial evidence.

Problem is that my wife has never filed her taxes because her very first job, which started in 2011, was abroad.

(She did not realize she had to file taxes even when working outside the country. By the time she learned that, it was too late)

So, when filing I-864, as a proof of ability of support, we submitted copies of her most recent paystubs since

moving back to the US in summer of 2013, and a letter explaining why there are no record of federal tax return.

We thought those would be sufficient, and honestly, there was nothing more we could have done.

But now, we are lost. We don't know what to do. Any tips?
