Applying for a Canadian Tourist Visa while in the US with a B2 Visa.

Hey guys! I know I should post this topic in a "Canadian" immigration community but I don't know of any so I opted on posting it on here instead - hoping one of you might have any experience about this. I hope you all don't mind wink.png I promise I will also scout some answers on the internet, too.

My mom has a 10-year multiple entry B2 visa and we are planning to take her to visit Niagara Falls this Spring - I know she has to apply for a tourist visa in order for her to visit Canada and as matter of fact, I already have a checklist on what she needs to submit for her online application. The checklist they gave me was based on the questions they asked when creating or applying online. My concern is, does she need to appear for an interview? New York and L.A are the only 2 I know of that process visa application - Detroit no longer process visa application and I am from Michigan. If I submit her application online and IF she will called be for an interview - does that mean we have to take her to either NY or LA? I'm kinda left hanging on how things will go after submitting the application. Do you know???blink.png

Is she already here ? It may be less hassle to apply back home

It may only be possible to apply back home, certainly would be the case the other way around.

Thank you, Teddy Bdancin5hr.gif

You may have better luck with this question in the Canadian sub-forum.

She's still in the Philippines - I was just thinking it'll be easier if we apply here since I live close to Detroit but turned out they no longer process visa application in that office. There are 2 Canadian Embassy in the Philippines and both location is far from where she resides. You're talking a plane ride, a hotel stay and the whole nine yard. biggrin.png

It may only be possible to apply back home, certainly would be the case the other way around.

Thank you!

Seems a lot of hassle, why not just see it from the US side?

Is that worth it?

Is that worth it?

Yes - its worth it. I dont think the american side has the best view, imo. On top of that, there's more to do in the Canadian side.

Then tell her to go an apply to the Canadian Consulate in PI.

Problem solved.

Thanks. Do you think It will be easier for her to obtain a tourist visa in Canada now that she has a B2 visa from the US?

FYI - it is faster if she does it from the Philippines; see: www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/visitors.asp

***JUST AN UPDATE

I applied for my mom's canadian visa online on March 24, 2014 at 3 pm. By 9 pm on the same day, I received a notification for a passport request.

She sent her passport, passport request letter and payment at VFS Manila and now they are processing it. Some say if they asked for your passport it means you are approved.

Fingers crossed. We will see. We will see. :dancing:
