How long did it take those of you who got an interview date to receive the appointment? We're going on 6 weeks here, and my lawyer says it's normal, but I'm a little worried.. I just want all of this to be behind me for a while!

Oh, and I went to the SSA office today, and had no problem. I brought my EAD, passport, birth certificate and marriage certificate. They took a photocopy of everything, gave me a receipt, and I should receive my card in 7 to 10 days.

CanAm what documents did you prepare for interview? Only these that letter said to bring or you took some extra?

Misuzuz - I brought an an original and a copy of everything they listed on the interview letter EXCEPT for items that I had already sent in (Affidavit of Support, Spouse's employment letter etc...).

She asked me if we had any accounts jointly and I gave her a statement from our bank showing our joint checking account, copies of our car insurance with both our names as insured on both vehicles and our jointly filed 2013 tax return + W2. She looked at the pictures I brought but I think it was more just to be polite as she returned them to me.

I also brought my entire immigration file with every piece of paper that I have ever submitted or received but of course, she doesn't ask to see any of that stuff lol

Quick question - did anyone else marry a few weeks after entry into the US? My husband and I got married two weeks after I got here, and our lawyer says that might delay my permanent residency (if the uscis officer decides it's not okay during the interview). We chose the date because it was my husband's grandfather's 100th birthday, so I plan on saying that it meant a lot and that's why we got married so fast. We have a legitimate marriage, maybe i shouldn't worry about it at all?

Thank you VisaJourney!! The information on this site is so helpful. According to our timeline, my husband's EAD would be adjudicated May 6-9. This morning the EAD case status changed to card production.

Does anyone know how long it will take to receive the card?

Your lawyer's talking ####### :) I know of a few couples thru VJ who married straight after arriving in the US & had no problems with AOS. You did come into the country on what is essentially a MARRIAGE visa lol :) I don't think you will have a thing to worry about. I didn't get married until 2 days before my 90 days was up - I am sure I will get a couple raised eyebrows for that too, but you can't please everyone! Good luck!

My status changed to "Interview & Testing" on the 3rd April... 5 days later it updated again with an interview date. Two days after that I got the hardcopy letter in the mail. It all depends on your field office though! San Diego (my field office) seems to be fairly fast at scheduling interviews while others are backlogged and have far longer wait times. Fingers crossed you don't have to sit in limbo for much longer!

I came here as a visitor, then my husband and I decided to get married. So not on a fiance visa.

I think that when they approve ap they will send dad again, means that they will update. My status changed in ead to card production and two days later it changed again, because the same day they approved ap.
