Hey my friend! How are you doing? I just called them today too, and it took less than an hour to talk to a real person (beginner's luck I guess :) ). My case was received on Sept. 10th, so I am in the same loop as you!

Hey Dualie!! We're right there together! I'm going to be with my wife on Oct. 18th, the operator said before then I will have a case number, but it'll take a couple of weeks before they bill me, so I should be ok on my trip. I'd be worried that I get the bill while abroad. He said it should be fine, and that I might get it around when I come back from the trip. I hope all keeps as smooth as it is now and for you as well my friend!

I canNOT believe the BS you guys are going through. It's SO NOT FAIR! I really hope you get that interview sooner than later. I think at this point I would rally the troops (so to say..) and go at them with everything in the arsenal - congressman, ombudsman, senator...some I can't even think of cuz I am no smarty in this process. Are you guys thinking of bringing a lawyer into it? I remember reading on VJ here someplace, there is one whose name gets tossed around here a lot. I wish there was something we could do here...

I will touch base with you this week...try to stay positive (I know it's hard...and maddening). I am here with ya :)

FYI: NVC informed me today that as of Sept. 11th they received and input my approved I-130 in their system, and that within 30 days a case number will be assigned.

Hey my friend! How are you doing? I just called them today too, and it took less than an hour to talk to a real person (beginner's luck I guess :) ). My case was received on Sept. 10th, so I am in the same loop as you!

Hi guys,

Just to update you as we're in similar time frames.

After I called and they told me they got the case on 27th August, they said to wait 30 business days.

My partner came to visit me in the UK on the 5th-16th and when he returned home yesterday, we had a letter from NVC with case number.IIN, Info on how to submit the DS-261 & Pay AOS fee - this was sent on September 8th.

So that was actually 9 - Business days.

I have submitted the DS-261 now and My husband will make the fee later today.

I hope this gives you guys some hope :)

Good luck for the same speedy times and I'll keep you updated.

Thanks Maureen

The thing I'm nervous about is that I get my AOS bill while abroad visiting my wife. Would it be ok if I paid the bill while there? And the DS261, how long after a case number was assigned did you get the bill?

I understand your concern, I don't see why you can't make the payment while abroad. If you have the case number and IIN numbers those will give you access to the CEAC website. http://ceac.state.gov

There you can make the payment and submit DS-261, you need to be at a computer with a printer to print the bar coded AOS cover sheet.

Back to your question, I don't have the exact date our AOS bill was available, as my hubby was visiting me and only received the letter yesterday. This was 10 days after NVC mailed us.

I hope the above helps.

Sorry for the rumble
